Woooohoooo!!! A fellow Ulsterman.

Greetings brother.

I find being from NI has made me a lot more intolerant of religious zealots. Don't come across to many. I get way more annoyed with the belief that this great country was setup as a theocracy and not as a secular nation. No matter how much evidence there is to the latter.

And Yes I do miss chocolate, sausage, cheese and bread. It is how it is. But I have found so many other things I love to replace the things I miss.

Greetings! We must be few and far between. I often wonder just how many from "our wee country" make it over on the ole K1. Yeah, I am as secular as they come, Montana isn't too bad for the bible thumpers actually, and I would bet they won't kneecap me when they find out I am from a protestant background, in a largely catholic area :).

Where abouts you from? From Bangor/East Belfast myself.

Coming back to the states on the 14th of March, can't wait. I have had enough sausage sodas to tide me over until next time :)

Weather's been insane full stop.. was -10C this morning in RI. I would like for these winter storms and such to kindly sod off out the door and not return until 2015.

I live in Montana. We got to -40 before Christmas, and for one day, we were the coldest town in the world. Colder than the North Pole... Get on my level... haha joking, joking I just never imagined moving to America and getting -40 f***ing degrees for 3 months a year, trust me to find the girl of my dreams in one of the Coldest places in the world.. . I can't wait for summer. At least for the large majority America gets a proper 4 seasons. Unlike the one week most the UK gets.

Lived most of my life in Bangor and Newtownards. Worked mainly in Comber , the Lisburn Road and Boucher Road in Belfast.

I would run you over for a sausage, bacon and egg Belfast bap at the minute.

I have no idea how many there are of us from "Norn Iron".

Thank you, goodnight and may your gods go with you",

Dave Allen.

Wow it really is a small world. I might just get a wee sausage bacon and egg bap from the pitstop tomorrow, you have got me in the mood. I have slowly been saying goodbye to pub grub over the past week. Finished off today with a nice chicken burger at the Jamaica Inn. Your the first I have ever seen from Bangor or Ards, normally the people I talk to or notice from Northern Ireland are from the back ####### of nowhere.

My husband is from Stroke City. Born, raised and 42 years there before coming to the US. He's been in the US with me nearly 9 years now. I've always been the one who "talks" on VJ, though. He wrote on here a little when we were in the visa process. But his posts are long ago lost. He hasn't written a word on here in ages.

Two nights ago I asked him to tell me the Number One thing he misses from home. Ta da surprise it wasn't food - and my husband loves to eat! He said it was the seaside. His second favorite "miss" was being able to walk into town and amble about.

It's funny (as in funny strange, not funny ha-ha) to see comments about religion/kneecappers/etc as it relates to living within the conflict. I remember my husband having residual baggage from that. We even had a mini-row about it once where I got exasperated with him and told him no one here hiring him would give two figs if he were protestant or catholic. What we weren't expecting was the general stupidity amongst employers about immigrant status. I thought the US was a sophisticated place and once we had spent all that money on his visa and had a green card, we were home free. More than once though we've had to produce documents employers should not have asked for, and the Department of Motor Vehicles treats the foreign born like they have three eyes. I think now, after spending all this time in another land as someone who is still "different from others", my husband would say that intolerance is just a result of stupidity - that it's not some localised condition.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.
