We got our NOA2 last week and received in the mail yesterday. Now, I read on here CSC has been slowly sending cases to NVC but I was wondering if would it be too early for me (beneficiary) to start gathering some of the documents needed? Am I better off getting a copy of my birth certificate and police records after packet 3?

Any suggestions or personal experiences are appreciated.

You should start gathering information, especially the affidavit of support form (I-134) as you will have to request a bit of financials that might take time to get.

Police clearance as well as it's not something that they can give you overnight! However, you should ask your local country's office about how the police clearance works and how long it might take - I know I asked my local country's (Hong Kong), and I can't ask for police clearance until I have my instruction forms from the consulate.

feb 20, 2014 - noa 2 approved

march 5, 2014 - case number assigned at NVC

march 14, 2014 - case received by local embassy

april 4, 2014 - interview

may 1, 2014 - visa in hand

june 13, 2014 - POE: Boston

AOS

Aug 1, 2014 - AOS/EAD/AP package delivered to Chicago Lockbox

Aug 6, 2014 - NOA1

Aug 19, 2014 - Biometrics appointment for AOS & EAD

Sept 29, 2014 - EAD/AP combo card received in mail.

Mid-Nov - Potential Waiver of Interview letter received

End of May 2015 - renewed my EAD/AP, got the NOA1 and another letter stating that I don't need to do biometrics appt.

June 11, 2015 - welcome to America letter! (no interview...no service request..)

June 16, 2015 - green card in hand

You got the right idea. Use this time to research and gather the documents needed for the interview. Once your files are sent to your country's consulate, everything moves very fast & you might not have enough time to be prepared with the documents. You want to be prepared and relaxed in time for your interview and not running around gathering docs. Good luck! smile.png

Thank you both.

I guess I'll be e-mailing a few offices here to see if I can just how up to get my papers or book an appointment and then we'll go from there. Not entirely sure when my fiancè should send me the affidavit etc. I just don't want the dates to be too far from the interview date, that's all.
