You have just proven my point. That so many people of a certain background are obsessed with living in a city when they have with little or no chance of getting a job there. Yet these same people refuse to move to areas where they can gain employment.

Why do you think they have little or no chance of getting a job in a city?

I recently read an article which said there is a growing shortage of skilled workers in the US, especially as the older generation retires. This particular factory mentioned in the story was paying between $15 to $19 per hour.

But hey why move out of places like DC to get jobs like that when one can simply blame slavery and the government for their problems.. Lets not forget racism too, of course..

Yeah I can see how many jobs these guys from Harlem are taking up. Unless selling drugs is considered a job..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

$19/hour? That's supposed to be a good job? It's better than cashiering at your local Walmart, but it's hardly the kind of job you can build a life on. Especially if that's the only income in the family.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

For someone who may have dropped out of high school that is excellent pay..

Personally I wouldn't want to live or work in a big city but thats just me.

And I wouldn't move to Peoria, Illinois even if they paid me a million dollars. To each their own. :D

Have you ever been to Peoria? It is a beautifull city. Great small town feel with most of the amminities of a big city. It also has a low cost of living. Add that to my $27/hour job and I am doing quite well here!

Good point.

Depends on where you live. That would be good wages here.

Here is a similar article to the one I saw

Certain groups of people have to get their act together rather then blaming everybody else..

Sorry Gary -- nothing against Peoria specifically. I just wouldn't move to *any* suburb or small town.

I have trouble finding sympathy for the IT people who are now out of work or struggling to find work. They milked it for all it was worth back whenever Silicon Valley was booming, drove the housing market through the roof and eventually priced themselves out of jobs........Sucks for them, but hey........!

I know of people who live in NYC earn about $150K and barely have a $1 to their name..

Yah well what can I say. They need to earn more then.

There aren't any *good* IT people who are out of work or struggling to find work.
