Short question about tourist visa to Russia

Hi all,

I was wondering how you handle it seeing my husband has to do it now: it's the first time he's going to get a Russian visa since we got married, and the question is: will there be any problems potentially if he says he's married to me in the visa application? He's going for a tourist one and not for a homestay. Could there be any questions about why it's a tourist one? I don't think there should be any issues but just wanted to check if anyone has any personal experience. Thanks!

I'm the beneficiary.

Filing for a USC spouse visa (IR-1/CR-1) and not sure what comes next? Check out the VJ IR-1/CR-1 guide

Want to know what's happening with your case? Here's the USCIS tracking page (get an account and see if the case's been 'touched'!). Don't get your hopes up though, some cases never even appear there despite being successfully processed.

I've been back on a tourist visa since I got married to my wife and there was never any problem.

Great, thank you!

I just got my passport back today... 3yr, multi-entry, tourist. First VISA since we were married as well, but I also had 4 previous VISAs. The application asks about relatives in Russia and spouse info, so I was concerned about that because you can do a private stay or your Russian spouse can make the VISA request for you. I still wanted to go with the tourist type in case we were ever traveling separately or to varying destinations in Russia, which is possible. Also, its good for a 6 month stay on any given entry. Hope this helps...

just remember, if he stays in Russia for more than 7 days, ( or is it 10 days), he must register... either at a post office or, I think a police station, or if staying in a hotel, they will do it if you give them your information...

I know, i've done it like 5 times already. And it's not him registering but the host who is registering him.

IIRC its 7 BUSINESS days so weekends/holidays don't get counted.

Maybe I should look into the multi entry tourist visa myself. I always fly through SVO from Kiev to New York, but there's a closer airport (Dnepropetrovsk that goes into one of the smaller Moscow airports (VKO?) and requires a transfer to DME. But then we wouldn't have that overnight ride in Lux to/from Kiev if I went that way. Decisions, decisions. Katya's meeting me in Kiev this time though. Coming home soon. dancin5hr.gif

You can also fly to/from Dnepropetrovsk via SVO (with Aeroflot), but the way from there to the US is a really crappy 14 hour long nighttime transfer in SVO (to there is just 3 hours)

Thanks vb! Since the west-bound trip only has a 2 hour or less connect and going back is 1.5 + hours connection time. I think we'll stick with the overnight train for now and enjoy a bit of relaxing romance. smile.png
