So - I've tried looking up information about this but it seems most of the posts made are about whether or not people have to fill it out based on their dates etc.

However there's not much info on the form itself. I know people have a general idea of what items are in each section, but does anyone have an actual copy of the form yet?

Has anyone experienced any issues with any of the questions - confusing questions or unsure about what the right answers are?

Essentially my fiancee filled this out and mailed it based on the embassy's instructions, last week. We were informed today that she needed to re-do the form and send it as soon as possible.

Now I don't want to just re-fill in the form as is, if there was something wrong? The embassy didn't tell us why we had to re-do it or if there were any issues, so I'm not sure what to do. I am trying to have my fiancee search through the questions to see if anything might have been wrong, but she doesn't know, and there are no versions of the exact form online for me to look at for issues.

It is my understanding that the form itself is completely done online and submitted electronically with the exception of a bar code page that IS printed and sent in with packet 3. I have not heard about being able to print out the entire application and sending it in but I may be wrong. We are in the process of completing each section pending our receipt of packet 3 as the online application can be saved and accessed for up to 30 days.

If she has her application ID number, you should be able to access the form as well to view the answers and double check for any errors. Both my fiance and I are working on the form ;-)

Hope this helps and if anyone knows differently regarding what I've outlined above, please let me know cuz I want to make sure we do this correctly as well smile.png

Thanks!

Yes that is correct, it is done completely online and then once completed, you have to print the confirmation page which has your photo and a barcode which you then mail to the embassy along with a copy of the biopage in your passport - at least thats what Amsterdam requested.

You can also print the entire application if you choose, which my fiancee has and actually emailed photos of it to me, so we reviewed the info together. I can't see any mistakes we made - and the embassy wont tell us why we have to redo it.

You can save your application, that is also correct, except I think once you submit it, you can't just re-access it. I will have to see ....

It's just frustrating because now we have to do it over again and I have no idea why... so I don't know what to do differently, if anything.

Oh wow! That is totally frustrating!! Well keep us updated on how things progress.... sad.png If neither of you are seeing anything incorrect, I'd just submit it again as-is. Maybe there was an issue accessing the initial application that was submitted? I dunno, just a thought since this submission process is so new. Either way, would've been nice if they could have let you know something -- blah!!

Ok - so we finally heard back after many emailing/calling attempts.

I guess the woman at the embassy processing our file called my fiancee and is unsure if she did something wrong or if my fiancee did something wrong. She said she is in the immigrant office of the embassy and was unable to retrieve/access our application because it was under the non-immigration office.

She told my fiancee to re-do the application and that there might be an option somewhere on the form to select to change it/ upload it to the immigration office instead of the non-immigration office. However there's no such option, it is a non-immigration form throughout. So we are going to just re-do it I guess and try to call her tomorrow and tell her that she is going to have to figure it out on her end.

Might be something to note - for anyone else that has experiences issues with the DS-160 and the embassy, since this is a new process they are doing - it seems the embassy workers have not 100% figured it out yet.

It is all sort of mixed - since on the ceac.state.gov site, to check your status, you check it as an immigrant visa, and you are in contact with the immigrant visa office of the embassy - however you are filling out a non-immigrant application (DS-160).

Sounds like they are asking for trouble with this mix up.

Thanks for the heads-up, Sarah---Nichelle. So which office should we be sending it to: immigration or non-immigration?

Well - it is sent automatically once you electronically sign the form. However the printed confirmation page, you are likely supposed to send to the immigration office - it should say in your packet where to mail it to.

I think the issue tho - is that the electronic version gets sent to the non-immigration part, since its a non- immigration form.

So when immigration gets the hard copy confirmation letter in the mail - they dont have any electronic application to view, because the electronic version went to non-immigration instead of immigration.

At least that appears to be our issue.

The immigration officer at the Amsterdam Embassy thought that maybe there was an option in the form to select immigration instead of non-immigration, however there was no option. So I think the embassy is going to have to figure out how to filter these applications since its a non-immigration application that is supposed to be sent to immigration. rolleyes.gif
