I've been told (and read many stories) that the eligibilty letter from the Manila Consul often doesn't come and we shouldn't wait for it. So we called up to schedule an appointment and when they asked for the letter, they said that if it was were not marked eligible, the consul could deny our application.

I don't want to make this process any longer than it has to be but I also don't want to wait for no reason. I tried to email the embassy (because the people on the phone don't know and can't give any specific information) but I am loosing hope for a response.

It's been 20 days since the Embassy received our information from the NVC. Should we keep waiting??

Don't call to schedule your interview, do it online. The letter from the embassy rarely arrives, so for sure don't wait for it.

As long as you have your MNL # - it's ROCK 'N' ROLL time!!

Do what Hank said. We have been married for 1.5 years, submitted our packet 3 years ago, and have still never received a letter from USEM. Glad we did not wait on them!!

wow! really? I'm worried that when time comes and I face the consul they will ask for that letter and I dont have anything to show them, they might turn down the petition because of the fact that I lack that document...

I know I have to be optimistic... but a thought comes to my mind if they changed the policy of considering applicants not bringing the letter of eligibility, and changing that policy to all applicants must present a letter of eligibility before they can be admitted to the embassy.. we have been waiting 22 days now for this letter since it left the NVC cray5ol.gif

thanks for all the patience and understanding!

Nope they will not ask for "that letter" at interview time. They will ask for the confirmation page/email from scheduling your interview. They will ask for the confirmation page from the DS-160. But they will not ask for the eligibility letter.
