Timeline

So once I get the EAD card and apply for a SSN will the ssn have a expiry on it, do I need to go back after to the SSN office after my AOS approval and get something changed or notify them ?

Your SSN will still be the same, and won't expire, but you can go get a SSN card without restrictions on it. The restriction basically just means any employer is supposed to ask for proof of employment authorization.

02/05/07 - mailed DS-230 to NVC via express mail

02/20/07 - CASE COMPLETE!!

04/18/07 - INTERVIEW!!!! - APPROVED!!!!

1/25/07 - approved ...NOA2 via snail mail - 1/29/07

03/16/07 - chose not to return packet 3 to Montreal

Timeline

You don't need a new card, you will just have to show your EAD along with your current SSC if you are using it for work purposes. Later on you will just show your GC with this card for work purposes once you have residency. If you really want to spend the day at the social security office just to have the words removed from your copy of the card I assume you can, but it isn't required and there is no real benefit to doing so.

Feb 2006: Applied for AOS and EAD

August 2006: Edgardo gets his Green Card, EAD never arrived

February 2007: Expecting a baby girl
