Hello everyone, I have filed an I-130 for my wife in the philippines, the application was approved, and she has gone through TB treatment for her medical because she had been infected. Now that her medical treatment process is nearing it's end, I have to think about the interview part and the I-864 Affidavit of support and I-864a for my parents joint sponsorships.

Because I have not been officially working for a few years and have just been living with and helping my dad and mom with their business' on the side, I have also been on social security supplemental income (SSI) due to an illness and still am. I have no income in other words and am I considered a public charge right? Do I cancel my SSI and just begin to be unemployed? or can I be approved for as the principle sponsor with 2 joint sponsors as is?

I read something in the guides and was terrified by it. However, this pertained to fiances' and I know that the joint sponsors are not really binding in these cases. I am filing for my wife who is my direct relative already -

"Not having adequate income will not usually be a problem if you have a co-sponsor, according to experiences

posted on the newsgroup, as long as the co-sponsor has adequate income/assets.
Be aware that the co-sponsor must have enough income/assets for both your fiance, any fiance children that will
be immigrating, and his/her own household. However, that IF the US fiance has been on welfare or other
government benefits for a lifetime or has no plans to work actively, the consulate can still deny the visa based on
the likelihood that the foreign fiance will become a public charge. Just having a co-sponsor may not be sufficient.
An actual case has been documented wherein a fiance visa was denied because the petitioning fiance was on
government benefits and would not be working, even though the US fiance had two co-sponsors."

My parents have very high income well above 150k-200k a year and are extremely excited and willing to be joint sponsors for the I-864 affidavit of support for supporting my wife and have been helping me support her through this time apart.

When approved, we would be living with my parents to get started. because of my illness, the SSI helped me with my medication and medical bills. It is our plan to have my parents support our beginning of our marriage in the US and to start working again and get off the SSI for myself. To be honest, I don't know how to begin to say how scared I am all this time filing and waiting for my wife with her TB treatment, we would be denied because of this. I can cancel my SSI and just have my parents help right? I need someone who is familiar with the affidavit of support process to please give me some encouraging/enlightening advice. Thank you. Any enlightenment on this would be highly appreciated.

Judgemental replies need not reply please.

Hello, I am trying to find out how to file the I-864 and have been unemployed since 2010 due to an unforeseen illness and had to apply for SSI (supplemental security income). During this time, I met my wife overseas with help from my parents and married her. We are now through most of the I-130 process and are closing in on an interview date, but first I have to file the Affidavit of supports first. I still receive non-taxable income of 600 dollars every month for assistance for my medication and things of that nature. I have read on the i-864 form that receiving mean tested public benefits does not disqualify me from being a sponsor. However, I have also read that it's cause for a denial too. I don't understand this part and am very confused about it after reading it on the forum.

I live with my parents and we plan to live with them, my wife and I, once she is in the states to save money and to help me get on my feet and start working again with my family, they are self employed business people (what documentation do I need for their businesses?). Now, my parents are well able to meet the income requirement and are going to file joint sponsorship, both of them just to show how much they love and support my wife.

Can someone please explain how I should file my I-864 as an unemployed on SSI, how my dad should file (does he file an I-864 and an I-864a?), and how my mom should file (does she file an I-864 and I-864a too?). My parents file their taxes jointly as well. How do I differentiate their incomes? Any advice is appreciated and if you can add other advice on top of anything I haven't asked it would be greatly appreciated as well. Thank you for your help.
