Starting to fill out I-765 Employment Auth., however, neither my wife or my step kids have any SSN # yet. My wife has her Alien Registration # from NOA2 which I can put on block 10 of her I-765. But for the kids, without SSN # or A-#, it's asking for I-94 Number which we have, however, in trying to input the I-94 into block 10 - it cannot accept more than nine (9) characters. I-94 consists of 11 characters mostly numbers. What I am thinking is just writing it in pen after the forms are printed out. Any suggestions or help is welcomed.. Thanks in advance

I typed 11 digits without issue. Are you using spaces or dashes? type just the numbers.

The K2 children do not have A #s? There is no A# under your name on their visas (Annotation)? (I don't have K2 so just asking what is noted)

You don't need SSNs for the I-765 EAD application. Follow the VJ example form (accessible at the top of the forum page) for specific details. http://www.visajourney.com/examples/INS-Form-I-765.pdf

When applying last year I successfully used this format, For my wife - I left #9 blank, filled in #10 with her "A#." For my stepson - I left both #9 and #10 blank. Payed particular attention to examples for #14, #15, #16 from the VJ form. For #14: "K-1 Visa" (spouse) "K-2 Visa" (child), for #15: "K-1" (spouse) "K-2" (child), for #16: "( C ) ( 9 ) ( )."

NOTE: The SSA is currently closed down to the Fed. Gov't shutdown, so no new SSNs are being assigned.

We first noticed my K-2 stepson's "A#" when we got the NOA1 Receipts for his AOS. The K-2s will be able to apply for SSNs with a I-765 (EAD) or I-551 (GC).

You should consider checking out the Family-based AOS Forum for more information and details: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/7-adjustment-of-status-green-card-from-family-based-visas/

HTH.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

No, the form is fine I can click the link go to the form then enter 11 digits, no issue. I will go with "operator error"

Okay, I remember about this. The original PDF for this edition of the form only took 9 digits. They later uploaded another version that took 11 digits, without notice. The OP probably downloaded it a while ago. They need to download it again.
