Hello, can someone shed some light on the process at Mumbai Embassy for K1 visa interview ? Our case has been gone to the Embassy and received by them on 3rd of Octobober. Ever since it was update twice (once on the 7th and once on the 8th). No clear instructions anywhere. Is it something we need to wait to hear from them for the interview date or do we need to go ahead and mail the applicant readiness forms to the embassy directly?

Any feedback is much appreciated. Thank you.

My fiance interviewed at the New Delhi embassy - as soon as they received his application, he mailed the forms from packet 3. I also called DOS daily to find out when his interview was scheduled for. The number for DOS is 202-485-7600. You will need your case number and then they can tell you when the interview date is and if the embassy has received all of his forms yet. Good luck!

To clear out any doubts for those having Interviews, please ignore all the experiences people had prior to October of 7th, 2013. The process has changed in India. No forms need to be filled out by beneficiary except for online DS-160. There will not be any packets mailed to Beneficiary other than a Interview letter in regular postal mail to the beneficiary. It is this letter the benefeciary should have to get medical and OFC done. At the same time, the DS-160 can be filled out and the $240 fee be paid. Once these are all done, please check ustraveldocs website daily to see if any appointment dates would show up and schedule. Even though ours was scheduled for 25th of Nov, the website allowed us to change to Oct 28th, 2013 and we were done with all of that and still waiting forthe passport to arrive. It is delayed due to the holidays on Nov 4th and 5th.

Usually, it is within 10 days. All the people who got interviewed on the same day as our and also through Nov 7th, gotten all their visas issued. We are the only ones still waiting since October 28th for our visa to be 'issued'. Our luck !!

hi, I actually have a question.I am an american woman and my fiance is Indian. We are up to the point where we are scheduling the interview and doing the medical exam ect. for his K-1 visa.I just heard someone tell me that arranged marriages are being approved for k-1 visa and most american women who apply for their indian fiances get rejected because of age difference, culture difference and if the woman was divorced with kids or not. From my understanding this is illegal for them to do.This seems like Indian biases and I dont want to get rejected.Im in this relationship 2 years..we vacationed together and have tons of proof of our relationship.. is there any truth to this rumor?should I be worried?

Each case is different. I know a couple were the woman was 9 years older than her fiance, she white american Christian girl, him Indian Hindu and they are approved. Just have to go all out to prove that you and your fiance has a bonafide relationship. I heard the same thing and its scary since I am a divorced woman, 5 years older with kids, and yet I am full of hope as well as my fiance. Also I think it depends on where he is going for his interview. I heard if the petitioner goes with beneficiary to interview in Delhi is a very good sign and holds alot of weight. Just make sure you have everything, and triple check it.

Oh no.Well I cant make it to be with him in Mumbai.Im in NY.We just bought furniture, moving to a new apartment and these lawyer and immigration fees and of course trying to plan a wedding has been extrememly expensive.I wish I could but that would be another 2,000 plus hotel and babysitting.I have an okay job but I AM a single mom.not so easy to do all this.I think with all our phone records showing we talk 2 times a day most days..chat records, vacation pictures should be good proof.Ill even tell him to bring the pictures my son drew featuring the 2 of them..I just want him HERE already!!We are in the final stage..Ill keep you posted!I hope in all our cases love will prevail!

In that case dont worry to much about it. Mumbai does not allow the petitioner to be at the interview. I never thought about sending pics of the kids drawings and my son has done the same thing. So I will send that to my fiance when we set up his interview. Yes I would like for you to keep me posted and see how things are going for the two of you. I wish the both of you luck on the rest of your journey.

Hope things are going well for everyone. I wanted to post another piece of information that I could not get it from the threads here (may be recently). We opted to have our passport to be mailed to an offsite location from where we could pick up. We learned that we need to wait until we receive an email (used during filling the documents @ ustraveldocs) that our passport has arrived at OFC and the status shows 'ready for pickup'. We had to return it due to the typos on the visa and it took additional 4 business days to receive in hand with all the corrections. Port of entry was all smooth.

We just got married today in San Jose. On to the adjustment of status now ...

Take care everyone.
