It took about a good week and a half for the P3 packet to arrive to my fiancee. It requested that we get 2x Passport photos, a copy of the passport information page and DS230 part 1 to be sent back to the consulate along with the instruction letter with our case number written on it.

So you can actually prepare these documents now =]

I was reading a while ago how some people are having to do the DS260 which is an electronic online form instead of the DS230, I suppose my case wasn't selected for the electronic processing.

Hi httuner,

Thank you so much.

Where can I get the the instruction letter with our case number? Is that the one from NVC?

And what do you mean by electronic processing and non- electronic processing?

The instruction letter will come with the P3 packet. It contains a written(typed) letter telling your fiance(e) about the petition approval, telling your fiance(e) to follow the instructions provided carefully along with a copy of the original I-129F Form with the approval stamp.

Then there is a instruction paper that will require your fiance(e) to write your case number on the top left hand line provided, make sure to make a copy of this instruction paper for your records. You will be required to mail this paper back to the Consulate along with the required documents it ask for.

This instruction paper will give you a checklist of items required which is to fill out Part 1 of DS230 ( http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/81807.pdf ) and a Copy of the Informational Page of his/her Passport and finally only Two 2 inches square photo(Basically passport photos) (roughly 50mm square)

This instruction letter is provided in the P3 that your fiance(e) will recieve in the mail. So if you prepare these items now you'll be ready to send it back once your fiance(e) recieves packet 3 from the consulate.

I was reading that some cases are selected for Electronic processing(which is basically online forms that are filled online and submitted online i.e. the DS260 instead of the paper document DS230) In my situation I wasn't selected for Electronic processing so we were required to fill the DS230 instead of the DS260. Its in a thread in here somewhere. I'll try to find it.
