Hello!

Firstly I would like to say how wonderful it really is to have found this website, full of information and personal experiences. My Fiance and I found the website a little further on in the process of my K1 visa, a week before my interview, but regardless of that fact, it has been greatly welcome to read thorugh everyones experiences and facts!

Right now my fiance and I are in awe and relief post interview at the London Embassy - after a year in waiting, we finally have my K1visa! Hoorah!

Now we sit in discussion about the next part in our process: What on earth do we do!? We were hoping to see if there were other people who had been through the next list of things to tick off: getting to the states and what to expect on arrival? where to get married - are their requirements for paperwork? The paperwork involved for Change of status and permit to work etc.

And above all for us, my finace and I, our hopes were to just talk things out and see how other people's experiences of the next steps were. For us, up until now this process has been somewhat daunting, frustrating and very long, so to hear and share experiences would go a long way.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Congratulations! I'm not even close to this stage of the visa process so I can't really provide much information. But hopefully this flowchart helps a little.

Now you enjoy having the K1 process behind you! And you of course book a one way ticket and get married in the US (all within the K1 timeframe of course)!!

Then, once you've gotten married and some of the stress from the K1 process is a memory, you file for AOS/EAD/AP.

My fiance JUST got his visa and is moving in 2 weeks, so we're in the same place you are. Prepping for a wedding in 5 weeks and reminding myself to enjoy the fact that the K1 is over and try not to get too ahead of myself and jump into the stress of AOS (since you can't file until after you have your marriage certificate back anyway!). smile.png

You might like this thread in the UK forum http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/455076-things-you-need-to-do-before-leaving-the-uk/ listing things to do before you leave the UK.

Here's my list of documents for adjustment of status https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FIsgnb7Tfj7tcRNnqRMKUOXQdEfR6HTUDY2vX6zKqqU/mobilebasic?authkey=CNXN_oQH

It's an overview to give you an idea of what's to come. The sooner you file, the sooner you are allowed to work and get a driver's license. You'll find a K1 has few privileges in the US, so getting the AOS filed ASAP is a positive step toward integrating faster.
