Hi All,

I just received my Chinese police certificate yesterday, and noticed that the notary office made a typo on my police certificate. Instead of saying I was born on the 18th May in the English translation, they typed 28th! Can I just change that typo by myself? It would be inconvenient for me to have another mailed all the way to me again since I have interview next Tuesday

Bummer. Since they screwed up, any chance you can contact them and make em sort it out? Give em a call & see how long it might take?

I've got a typo on mine too, city of birth, sent it back and they screwed it up AGAIN...morons. I'm gonna leave mine and hope to wing it through, but a dob is perhaps a bit more important?

Whatever happens, hope you can get it sorted and get your visa.

It doesn't take long for me to get a new one, it's just that there's no way I can receive it in the mail in time for the interview :( I'm really annoyed cos everything is correct in the original Chinese part of police clearance, they just screwed up the date in the English translation.oh well, hope I don't have to show it to them. Btw does anyone know if the 6 month requirement for police certificate is cumulative or continuous stay?

I just asked my dad to bring the household register to the local police station and notary office. But you are a NZ citizen? I don't know the process for non-Chinese. It only took a couple hours for me to obtain that, but mailing it all the way to NZ takes at least 4 days...good thing the consulate didn't need that in the end :)

Hi Stella what was your process in getting the Police Certificate....mine is ready this week but it has taken a while to get it....lucky I have relatives in China.

Oh I see... you are chinese citizen anyway? That is so frustrating about the mistype.....I would contact the Consulate in Auckland and ask them what to do since it's just the English version mistake.

yea... I'm sorry if it takes forever for you to get a Chinese police certificate...Chinese government is pretty useless ranting33va.gif

also it's ok now, I had the interview already on Tuesday and they just sent me the visa today. I didn't really need the police certificate, was getting it just in case, the consulate didnt ask for anything during the interview :) good luck, hope you get everything sorted soon!

Oh really?? I had my interview second week of August and that was the ONE thing I needed because I worked in China for a year and a half. This is the ONLY document they require which is a pain, and yes it DOES take such a long time to wait for China to issue....pretty useless alright because of their silly processes, etc....

Congratulations on your visa too!!!
