Question about work auth.

My husband has arrived here to the us on a k-3 visa. I know the next step would be to file his AOS but its a bit costly for us right now. What I want to know is can we just for now file his working authorization so we can get him starting to work and as we get the rest of the money we can file the rest of the paperwork. I know they take about the same amount of time to be approved. We have a 2 year visa and we plan to have all the paperwork filed within the year. We went to the infopass and they said we could just file for work but then the guy down stairs at the form room said we had to have a AOS pending. Perhaps he ment the 130 (which we have approved) Anyways if we file for just his work I know the fee is 180$ but do we have to pay any others????? Iv read about a fingerprinting fee.

K3 can apply for EAD before filing for AOS. I'm not sure if there is a biometrics fee for EAD alone.

01/29/07 - DS230 generated (phone system not updated, email response 2/5/07)

02/05/07 - mailed DS-230 to NVC via express mail

02/20/07 - CASE COMPLETE!!

04/18/07 - INTERVIEW!!!! - APPROVED!!!!

09/28/06 - NOA1

1/25/07 - approved ...NOA2 via snail mail - 1/29/07

03/16/07 - chose not to return packet 3 to Montreal

Biometrics fee is included in the fee for EAD.... you can download the forms of the USCIS website.. you do not need to file for AOS to get EAD you can file for your EAD first then wait a while then file for AOS or return and do CR1

More appropriate to say that there is no biometrics fee associated with the EAD. A fee is charged for the expensive, hi-tech fingerprints and photo taken for adjustment that go into an electronic storage and retrieval data base. The so-called 'biometrics' for EAD is nothing more than the same old index print and photo needed to make the ID card, and there is no fee associated with that.

A K3 is better off applying for their EAD prior to applying for adjustment - the EAD will be valid for the period of stay as a K3.

11/17/06 Biometrics appt

11/27/06 Touched "Case now pending at CSC"

1/12/07 EAD "touched"

1/16/07 EAD "touched"

1/17/07 EAD approved "Card production Ordered"

1/20/07 I 485 "touched"

1/22/07 EAD card received

6/13/07 Transferred back to Missouri....grrrrrrr

7/23/07 Interview date! FINALLY!

7/23/07 AOS APPROVED!!! :o) 10 yr Greencard I 551 stamp in passport.

7/28/07 Welcome letter received

7/28/07 Card production ordered.

8/1/07 Approval notice senT

8/3/07 Greencards received in mail!
