Hi! I am a Canadian considering work in the USA and I have some beginner questions that I'm hoping someone can help me with.

I have a B Sc. in microbiology and am hoping to find work in the states for personal reasons. As I begin my job search, I'm curious about how my job title will affect my eligibility for TN status. Does it need to exactly match those on the list of NAFTA professionals? For example, would a job offer as a "Microbiologist" qualify me for entrance as a "Biologist"? What about something like "Lab technician" or "Research Assistant"? Perhaps these would instead fall under the category of "Scientific technician/technologist"? Essentially, I am wondering about what criteria a NAFTA profession is evaluated under.

I appreciate any help or guidance you can give me.

Looking at the CBP and US embassy websites you must work in a profession recognized by NAFTA.

I believe microbiology would fall under the biology section. Either that or Scientific Technician
