Hello,

We have received the NOA2 and are now waiting to hear from the US Consulate in Paris after they receive our application file.

I will be gathering all required police certificates for the interview, but i have one problem. I lived four years in Cambodia and i understand this means i need to provide a police certificate from Cambodia. But the problem is i left the country over a year ago, so it is very difficult for me to get said certificate - the certificate must be requested with the Cambodian ministry of the Interior and there doesn't seem to be any option for people no longer living in Cambodia.

My question is this: Could it be problematic to go to the Consulate without a Cambodian police certificate and simply explain my situation (yes, i lived there four years but since i no longer live there, it was impossible for me to get the certificate)? Would it be possible or likely for the Consulate officials to be understanding or... is that a bad bet?

Many thanks to anyone who can enlighten us!

use this web site http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_5455.html?cid=9223 select your country where you need to get a Police certificate from then scroll down to the section where is says police certificate. it will tell you how to get one if you are there and if its even possible to get one if you are not in the country.. I copied all of it and attached it to the letter I wrote. Because for me I couldn't get one for south Korea because its unavailable to anyone not living there currently. help that helps
