Hi VJ members,

I got approved on July 23 and also received hard copy of NOA2 ( the case has not shipped to NVC yet). I recently moved to new address and I want to use this new address for the paperwork later such as I-134, etc.

I go online to change the address and I was confused the question on " Yes, I have pending petition" . This is how USCIS defines a pending petition:

Online Change of Address is a web-based tool that allows you to change your address online so that USCIS can contact you regarding your status. Customers who have filed an application or petition with USCIS but have not yet received a decision (a "pending" case) should notify USCIS of any change of address as soon as possible after moving.

Do I choose the answer Yes, I have one or more pending cases or No, I dont have pending cases?. However, If I choose No, I dont have then they dont let me change the address.

Thanks.

I called USCIS and they told me that I dont need to update my address with USCIS after approval ( Im USC). They told me to contact NVC or DOS to change the new address but I still do not have a case number that assigned by NVC. I need to wait for 30 days that is what USCIS told me.

After the petition is approved, it becomes a visa application by the beneficiary at the local Embassy/Consulate. They will receive the packets from the Embassy/Consulate and must submit the information to the Embassy/Consulate. Yo can put your new address on any forms your finacee submits. That is why the signature date is improtant--it is stating that all information is true and correct as of the date you sign the form. Just have your financee use your new address and you will be fine. You are now out of the picture (so to speak) until the visa is approved and your fiancee comes to the US.

Good luck,

Dave

HaoPHong,

If your case is transferred from VSC to TSC your waiting time around 3 weeks before it ship to DOS/NVC and after you received notice that your case shipped to DOS/NVC you can call DOS at 202-663-1225 press 1 then press 0 on the 8th day (wait about 8 days) to obtain your case number and after your case assigned DOS/NVC will send e-file first to US Embassy in Vietnam. Then DOS/NVC will ship physical file 2-3 days later. US Embassy in Vietnam will receive your case in 3-4 days later after your file shipped out.

FYI: you can alway check your case status at https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx (Visa Application Type: Immigrant Visa (IV), Immigrant Visa Case Number : HCM2013xxxxxx).

For your new address: such as for I-134 you can starting use your new address and please make sure you send a copy of Post Office address change confirmation page to your beneficiary just in case they ask when your coming interview. Also like Dave&Roza answerred/comment. You'll fine. Don't worry too much.

Good Luck !

Thanks for your info. That is good idea to have the confirmation from USPS. However, I was at Vermont from begining to ending ( not transfer ). I did not receive the notice from USCIS that indicates my approval has been shipped to NVC( I got approved on July 23 , it will be 3 weeks on next Tuesday). I called DOS three times, of course, they have not received it.

Hi VA-FEB 13 FILER,

How do you know if the Embass has received the file yet? Do you call the Embassy in Vietnam?

HaoPhong,

First, You can call DOS at 202-663-1225 and ask for your current petition status. They'll tell you.

Secondly, you can email US Embassy in Vietnam by use this link http://hochiminh.usconsulate.gov/contact/ivinquiries.html. US Embassy in Vietnam will not answer any questions by phone so the best way is email.

Thank you
