Oh gosh... So our congressperson sends an inquiry last week. We get two updates one on Wednesday and one on Friday. Friday I call DOS and spoke to a pleasant visa specialist who stated our case was changed from an immigrant visa to non-immigrant and to call back in two weeks if we hadn't received our visa. I immediately asked if that meant that the CO determined eligibility for the visa. The specialist stated it usually means eligibility was determined ("eligibility" to me means they approved the visa and are going to issue).

Well called DOS today because I wanted to be sure I understood that our visa is going to be printed and we are officially out of "AP". Something told me not to be too excited. I was told still in AP and specialist was a bit condescending. I explained and even stated who I spoke with and what I was told. Specialist stated case looks good but still in AP and will not be out of AP until visa is issued. So I asked rep to confirm what the other did on Friday, was our status changed from immigrant to non-immigrant. Specialist says yes, but that is because the K1 visa is a non-immigrant visa. Specialist refused to confirm or offer any information.

For anyone who reads this as they are researching wait times or AP after the interview. Just realize through Jamaica AP means anything. It can mean they are determining eligibility or they are processing your visa for issuance. Our CEAC has never changed from "ready" I will never know exactly why on this earth it has taken so long. To know we are so close but yet still so far is frustrating. I have stopped emailing the embassy because honestly it is of no use. I have asked fo supervisors, I have asked for a phone call, my fiance has emailed them. They refuse to answer us. So I guess we wait until the US embassy in Jamaica decides when they are good and ready to print our visa. Until then I have to live with the notion that we are in AP.

Seems like the same is going on with us. They keep on telling me case looks good, they are just determining eligibility for his visa. Which doesn't make sense, b/c in packet 4 it clearly states that we are in the final stages of the visa approval. On top of that approving us on the day of the interview saying that we were approved, keeping his passport and having such a smooth interview, confuses me so much. My fiance has never had any trouble, never done anything illegal, works and goes to school. My congressmen tried to help as well and tells me to wait the 90 day period to send them another inquiry. I wish you and your fiance the best. This is a black hole that really tests our patience in our relationship. Keep us posted :)
