Notification of Approval of K1 petition

Hi, my fiancee is from Germany, but works on a cruise ship - so he is never home to receive mail. In fact, he has rented out his house and does not trust the tenants to keep his mail safe for him. Here is my question - how will we be notified when (hopefully!!) our K1 visa is at the interview stage? He needs to go to Frankfurt for the interview. Will I be notified or will he? Via email or post? I am worried that we will not be aware that we can move to the next stage of the process. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks - Amanda

Having looked at your timeline, you haven't received NOA1 yet... The petitioner (US citizen) will receive a hardcopy NOA1 (Notice of Action 1) which will include a case number of which you can enter on the USCIS website and check your case status. NOA2 (approval) will be posted on the website once you've been approved, and a hardcopy will be sent in the mail to the petitioner (US citizen).. all other files from then on (forms and checklist from NVC) will be sent in the mail to your fiance.

You or he (or both) can sign up on the USCIS website to get an email or text message about when the I-129F is approved. That is how I found out about my approval (email - text didn't work.)

He should remind his tenants that he needs his mail and that is it a federal offense to tamper with the mail. So they should save EVERYTHING that comes to the house for him.

Thanks for the info. Perhaps it is better to get a PO box or get a company that will forward the mail for us. I really appreciate the quick responses!!

A problem with German PO box is that you must check it every 7 days - he is at sea for months at a time. Is it possible for me to set up a US PO box, so that I will get his notifications? Thanks!

He could get a US PO box next time he is in the USA. I'm not sure if you can set one up over the phone or internet. It's worth checking into. Or you can set up a German PO box for the both of you but the USCIS often has trouble updating overseas addresses.

I think i could set up a local PO box in his name - i have to call the Post Office to check that. Now that i already submitted the initial paperwork, how can i change his address? Also - is it for sure that they will mail him something? I have seen on other posts that people were emailed their interview info (medical forms, embassy info,etc.). Thanks!

I don't know how the embassy works there? You may want to inquire in your regional forum.
