Hi,

I'm not sure if this has been asked here already or not, so please forgive me if it has. I just wanted to ask a few questions on how to proceed with my filed petition.

I am a Green Card holder and I petitioned my wife last Nov. 2011. So far, the petition has been passed to NVC and I recently recieved an email informing me to start paying the AOS fee. My questions for this matter are:

1. How long does it usually take for the whole process to be completed (from payment of AOS fees to interview)

2. I was laid off last year and I have only been doing freelance work for a while (having trouble landing a job), will this affect the petition (in terms of when they ask me to submit my AOS)? Will it be grounds for denial/delay?

3. Currently, my wife has transferred to a different address, do I need to contact NVC about this or will the indicated address on DS-3032 form be sufficient?

The next questions are regarding my minor son. When I was interviewed last 2008, before I came here, I was asked on whether I was bringing my son with me. I said not yet, so the consul informed me that he is indicated on my form as to follow (this means he is a derivative, right?)

1. How soon should I file for his papers if I want him to come here together with his mother (my wife)? And what forms should I be filing?

2. is it possible, that instead of filing for a different paperwork in regards him following me, is it possible for my wife to have him as a derivative and bring her with him when she goes here?

3. If it is possible for my wife to bring him with her as a derivative (this derivative status would be discussed during interview, right?), would this delay them coming here (meaning, my son would have to undergo the whole medical procedure and document submissions)?

Also, I was reading some of the topics here, regarding co-sponsoring.

What are the valid requirements for co-sponsors anyway? Are families the only eligible co-sponsors or can it be friends?

My main concern right now is that I don't have a full time job and that it might affect the whole petition process, this is why I am having second thoughts about paying the AOS fee right away, since they might start asking me to submit an AOS right away.

i hope that someone here can help me in regards to this issues.

Thank you and more power to everyone.

After paying the AOS, i would suggest calling NVC and asking them to add your son which they should do. Find co-sponsors and then update your I864 including your son on it. Documents will be requested make sure u have original especially the birth cert of the son.
