Hello Everyone.

Hope everyone is having a great summer.

I had two questions which I was hoping to get some help on.

1. I emailed NVC requesting to join the online submission program so I can scan and email my documents. It has been over 10 days and no response. I called and asked if I could submit paperwork electronically and was told to wait. Should I call again or just mail my paperwork?

2. The applicant is my husband and he moved to Canada when he was 2. We can not find his birth certificate and were wondering anyone knew how to request one from oversea countries (specifically Bangladesh)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Best wishes to everyone in their journey!

1) do not email or mail paperwork until your OPTIN has been accepted. If you OPTIN and it's accepted they won't accept your mailed documents. If you email it before you're allowed to it won't be added to the case file. It can take a little while for this to happen. If they haven't accepted it in 2 weeks, send it again with the supervisor review trick from post#2 in the NVC July 2012 filers thread in the progress reports forum.

2) you may want to inquire with a Bangladesh embassy in Canada? Or you can post in the regional forum to inquire.

Thank you for your quick response. I think I was just getting nervous. I'll definitely try your suggestion for the birth certificate and wait until next week to touch base with NVC.

You're welcome, I understand how frustrating it is :)

I sent my optin email on the 9th and just got my response today. I also tried resending it with "supervisor review" in the subject on Friday and they responded to my original optin, not the other one. I would just wait a few more days and you should hear something back.

NVC has slowed down. I think they're dealing with a higher than normal amount of work right now due to spring/early summer... People like to get married when it's warm! :D

It looks like it may be a bit of an internet search to try and obtain his birth certificate: http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_5455.html?cid=8961

Birth Certificates

Available. Registration of birth is required in Bangladesh under Construct 21 Rules. The Government of Bangladesh has designated local registrar offices throughout Bangladesh for issuance of birth certificates. Applicants should contact the designated office in the locality where they were born. The authorized registrar office is usually the City Corporation, the Pourashava Office, the Union Porishad Office or the Cantonment Board. In some rural areas, the municipal Chairman's office provides registered birth certificates. The format of the birth certificate should include biographic data, the serial number of the register, the page number of the register where the data was recorded and the identity of person who registered the birth. Embassy Dhaka will not accept affidavits of birth from relatives, friends and neighbors.

Are there any relatives in the area that could pick him up another one?
