I work in the video game industry and I am estatic about this revolutionary way of playing games!:star: Video game play to me had gotten boring and redundant - everything was reduced to mashing down on a button, which steered game development to the types of shooter games we have now. It's not that shooter games are bad, but how many different shooters do you have to play before it gets monotonous?

if they would do an exact re make of golden eye 007 , with many new multiplayer levels, along with the motion controller thingy... i would buy one definetely.

but sadly, Nintendo has taken a turn more towards marketing towards children, and not us older gamers. I mean, Link from LoZ used to be a bad@ss, now hes a little mask wearing flute playing **.

Hehehe...well, maybe it's my age and being a parent that I gravitate more to games on the Gamecube. The hyper-realistic games that get pumped out just don't do it for me - neither as a player nor as an artist. If I want real, I'll simply walk away from my TV and go outside. :P

thats why the 64 was perfect. IMO it kicked the ####### out of the regular PS. It perfectly balanced the ratio of child games and adult games. Plus those guys at Rareware ( banjo kazooie, goldeneye donkey kong) were geniuses. They broke up though, and some of them formed into Free Radical, they made the timesplitters series. Which was great, but maybe im biased to the creators. God im a loser

Now you're talkin a foreing language to this old geezer. :P To give you an idea, back in Junior High, in the accellerated learning classroom, there was a Pong game. Just 2 dials and a 13" Black and White television - and I couldn't wait for lunch time to play BreakOut! :P I went on to buy the first home Coleco System (which later became Nintendo), followed by the Sega Master System and Genesis, Sony PS, Sega Dreamcast and now the GameCube. The last game I bought for my kids was King Kong, but I could never stayed interested with it. I love the sports games the best though - especially basketball. :star:

I want a Wii but not bad enough to have camped out for it. So we wait.

Exactly. My boy wants one for Christmas. I have explained to him about the lack of availability and he understands that he might not be able to get one in time.

He also understands that I will not pay over the odds for one...

yea I know that part kinda sucks, and it's always pissing me off that nintendo says "NO GTA for our console' its like aww man cmon, we're old now.. but.. there can be fun games that don't need all the violence and stuff, right now i got 2 games besides the wii sports and even though zelda is the typical zelda, it's very different to play wiggling a controller instead of pressing a button.. but right now the best games are the sports games, where u almost replicate the motion of swinging a golf club or throwing a bowling ball.. it's an all the family console and everybody can play it, cuz u dont have to remember the square buttons makes u jump and triangle makes u shoot lol

I assume you know Rare is still around and kicking, though? New Banjo-Kazooie coming for 360, and they just put out Viva Pinata. :)

I love my wii. I'm so tired of hearing 'Nintendo is a kiddy console', because I've had so many great games on both the DS and Gamecube, and now the Wii, games I truly enjoy. Yes, some might be colorful, and light hearted, and whatnot, but why does that always mean the game is 'kiddy'? Is it impossible for an adult to enjoy something with bright colors, fantasy worlds and creatures, and a lack of bloodshed? Hell, even if you want a dose of bloodshed, a launch title for the wii was Call of Duty. Not what I'd call kiddy. Is there a decent amount of Dora the Explorer, Blues Clues, and Hello Kitty's Roller Rescue titles? Sure. Doesn't mean there aren't some real gems out there, family games that are actually for the entire family, as well as the occasional adult game.

Don't get me wrong-- I'm not a brainless nintendo fangirl, and I can understand why some people don't like the gamecube. I've got a ps, a ps2, a psp, a dreamcast, a genesis, an xbox and 360, a ds, a wii, and had a gamecube up until I traded it in for a little extra fundage for the wii. But I just get really tired of hearing it called a childrens console when it's truly what you make of it.

I laughed when I realized I was more excited than my preteen nephews for the wii. They notified me they sold their gamecube, as well, and I giggled.

Anyhow, back to the wii.

The motion sensitive thing is great. I was really worried I would have a hard time picking up on it, but after 5 minutes of playing it was a very natural way of playing. Soon enough I was performing surgery in my computer room. My mother actually came in and played a few rounds of bowling with no hesitation, and she was beating me within no time. My mother has never played a game console in her life, minus her trying out Dance Dance Revolution and being quite upset that she couldn't keep up with it :P

As for people breaking things, I still don't understand how it's happening. I know a few people are not listening to the warning of 'use your wrist strap', then getting sweaty palms and whatnot. And I know some people are just putting WAY too much effort into playing-- Yes, you can swing like you have a tennis racket in your hand, but you don't have to do exaggerated movements like a crazy person! It just seems like common sense to me that you wouldn't do that, but I guess common sense isn't so common. I personally prefer to just lie in my big comfy chair and play with small movements of the hand.

If anyone wants my Wii number, its 7323 4342 4672 5508. Just let me know that you've added me-- you have to be added back for us to be able to message one another.
