Certified copies

Hey guys - do the certified copies of the original have to be certified from the issuing office? For example, her passport and birth certificate was issued at different places, can she have the photo copies certified at the justice department?

What do you need certified copy of passport for? If it for ITIN purpose! Don't waste your time for it!

For what stage, uscis, nvc, interview? Uscis doesn't want anything but plain copies of your documents, NVC wants originals or certified copies, certified by the issuing authority, not a justice of the peace or anyone else. Interview, take every original you have left and copies of all you've sent to each the uscis and nvc plus any other evidence you may have.

W/o knowing what you need them for, it's hard for anyone to tell you the correct answer.

For your I-130 Packet: Only normal copies are needed, you can do them yourself at staples/office depot, etc

For NVC: You need originals or certified copies from the issuing agency.

For Taxes/ITIN: I don't know why the person above said don't bother. For passport, yes, you need the copy from the issuing agency and it works just fine.

Thanks everyone. This is for my I-130 package with USCIS. If a copy is all they need will a scanned version suffice? I will just print it out.

Yes, just a normal copy you can make yourself.
