Okay, I thought we would have to pay fees at the Consulate, but it looks like I am wrong. Anyone know how it works with Bucharest, Romania?

Yes, you will pay fees at the consulate when you have your interview. I don't remember exactly how much but I think it was around $350.00.

The fee is payed at the consulate, on the day of interview, and it's $240. For TNT(express courier), you don't have to pay anything, when registering with them or when your fiance will pick up her passport with the visa, but she will have to go to their office to pick it up.

When we went for the interview they called us up to the first window where we turned in our documents, then my husband went to another window where he got fingerprinted. After the fingerprints he was given a paper to take to another window to pay for the visa. The CO asked for the paid receipt at the start of the interview. Sorry about giving the wrong fee - I looked it up and that is what we paid but I remember seeing that the fees went down sometime after we did ours.

I was wondering how you scheduled the date of the k1 visa interview at the embassy in Bucharest? The instructions that they

sent to my fiancee were very confusing. They included a phone number that is no longer in use and when she called some

other embassy phone number that she found on their web site they told her to register on this web site: http://cdn.ustraveldocs.com/ro/ro-niv-visaapply.asp

and schedule the interview there. But, after signing up on the above web site, there are no options to schedule k1 visa interviews.

Apparently only non-immigrant visa interviews can be scheduled there.

Then my fiancee called the embassy again and they wanted to know if she paid for the interview but in the instructions that they had sent her

mentioned that the payment is made at the embassy and not at some bank in Bucharest.

So I am wondering if my fiancee should write them a letter requesting an interview appointment? If yes, what should be included in this letter?

I really appreciate any help with this!

Hello everybody!

I have a quick question. I'm waiting for the Consulate in Bucharest to receive my paperwork and contact me to schedule the interview within the next few weeks, most likely.

I heard that they'll send me a package with instructions about what documents I need to send back to me or have with me on the interview day. I understand that among the documents, I'll need both copies and originals of my birth certificate, passport etc. Now, my question is this: When they say they want copies, do they mean legalized copies or just regular copies?

Also, for the birth certificate, in some places I read that I need to have a translation of it in English but on the Embassy site it said something like "documents need to be translated ONLY IF they're not either in English or in the official language of the country in which the Embassy that processes the documents is situated" (aka Romania-Romanian language)

Any advice on this? I want to start gathering up everything I need so that by the time they contact me I have everything ready, pretty much

Id be interested in knowing about this as well. I had a copy of the birth certificate translated here in the United States but I don't know if that will suffice (if that is even required at all).

you need regular copies, for the birth certificare. they will give you back the original. As far as i know, the only legalized copies that you need is for the divorce decree (if it's the case)

as far as the translation goes, the BC needs to be translated in English. You have 2 choises: if you have the older version of the BC, you can go to a translator and do the translation; or you can go and request the newer version of the BC, which is trilingual(romanian, english and french). both of them are good.

the only document that doesnt need translation is the police record

Hi

A litlle help please.

I have the interview in one week.

The last thing is to register at tnt.

They ask for a receipt for visa payment.

In the instructions is very clear that can be paid at the embassy on the interview day.

So i'm stuck on the registration page, where they ask for the receipt. And i have no confirmation page to bring to the embassy whit the delivery address of the documents (passport with visa), and no other option in the registration page, and i just don't understand, and too late in the evening to contact call center.

I'm sure its simple, i just cant see it or i'm missing something.

Hello, I just had my interview last week and this is what my instructions said about registering at TNT: choose CR-1 instead of K1, so this way they will not ask for a receipt number.

Then simply print confirmation page, they will ask for it at the interview (and they wont return it to you, btw).

You will need your ID (buletin) to go and pick up ypur passport.

You will indeed pay the 240$ fee at the consulate, after you present paperwork and before they take your prints.

Good luck :)

My interview experience was pretty straightforward. They didn't really look at our evidence and asked only a few questions such as how we met, our wedding plans, and if the USC spoke Romanian. We we were in and out in 30 minutes.
