Transfer case from Cairo embassy

You have to email different embassies and ask if they would consider a transfer, explaining your reasons for the request. I did that about a month ago, my fiancé and I emailed about 10 different embassies that he believed he could more easily travel to. Only 2 responded saying that they would be willing to take the transfer, Romania and South Africa. We were going to go to Romania but then later cancelled the process. They were VERY nice and answered many questions for us. Just to give you a heads up, our first choice, Lebanon, said that they were too busy to take a transfer at the moment. All the embassies we contacted responded but most seem too busy to handle transfers at the moment. Give it a try though!

My fiance and I are also considering transferring our case to another embassy – we are thinking of Jordan. I have yet to write them.

Our lawyer told me it takes 2-3 months to transfer a case! Does anyone have information on how long it takes, please?

We returned the package with all forms to the consulate and it’s been with them since July 10th so well over a month and still no interview. I am concerned that it will take months to get an interview date. When I check the status on the embassy website & see they are open, I become hopeful, but do they even still schedule/conduct interviews?

I can see how they’d want to take care of re-scheduled applicants or those in AP. We haven’t even received an interview date yet.

If anyone is in the same situation (ie waiting for interview), please share your thoughts with me.

Thank you

HI there,

No one can really tell you what to do in this case. Its very very unfortunate because all of us are waiting. Waiting for interviews, waiting for visas, wait wait wait.

I can tell you that since my husband had his interview and they put his case in AP on june 24 that the embassy has been open a total of 12.5 days and at this time no one really knows when it will open. At this point it is up to the Egyptian ppl to calm themselves and the violence so that the embassy can safely open and get back to work. But until that time Im afraid we are stuck waiting. I wish for you the best of luck in your decision. But I sort of suspect if things are not going to get back to business soon, that the DOS will make the decision to move the case for us, but again this will depend on the situation as it unfolds in Cairo so that why I said earlier, its a ####### shoot.....good luck to you and safe adventures to you and your habibi! Let us know what you decide!
