Having a choice of a local field office. Which one?

My husband (USC) might be moving soon to NJ and if so- he will move to a jurisdiction of a local field office that is least busy.

Our choices would be: Philly, Newark and Mount Laurel.

His possible future zip code will depend on where we could be approved faster..

Based on our research looks like Mt. Laurel looks like the best choice.

Thoughts?

However he may be moving for work... He gets to pick the area where he would like to live for that time. Makes sense?

If we have the "luxury" of picking the best local office jurisdiction , why not take advantage of that?

I've read that Newark is slow and I bet that Philly would be as well. The third may be your best option but small offices also can be slow because they don't know what they're doing. Bit of a gamble I guess unless someone else who's in one of those places pops up! *crosses fingers for you*

Just looked at the completions to receipts ratios in all three offices, and it looks like Mt. Laurel would be the best choice. Monthly there is almost as many approvals as receipts.

But then I read somewhere here that they tend to be rather slow.. and that Philly filers get approved within 4 months and Newark is completely swamped with petitions and it takes forever to be approved there.

Whom do I believe?

I am terrified about all this and it hasn't even started yet :(

Can't wait for this nightmare to end.

I wouldn't stress too much, do whatever research you can on office specific approvals and then go for it

the longer you wait now, the longer it will take ;)

the other variable is the future.. nobody can tell you if some other process will be put in place for local offices with particularly large backlogs.

I say just file asap

Asap would be perfect but A: we are still waiting for our marriage certificate :) and B: My husband just got laid off :( and there is a chance of him getting that NJ job soon, so we are waiting to find out..

Can we even file while he is unemployed? We are sure he will land a new job soon and by the time our case gets to NVC this will be a non-issue :)

See, another reason we want to wait now is that we want to avoid updating his address. I've read USCIS is a bit slow with that and takes them quite a while. Also, we get to "pick" the local office, cause he will move where it makes most sense for us :)

Either way, we will be filing within next few weeks.

We've had enough thrown at us lately... so I hope, no- scratch that- I BELIEVE, it will all turn out well in the end :)
