My fiancee was "adopted" and so did not have an original birth certificate. When she went to the local authority in China to apply for one, they said that they can do it, but it will not have her parents' names on it (her parents will be listed as unknown on the certificate). However, I've already sent my application in with her current parents' names on the forms.

She's only able to get a birth certificate showing her birth date and place, but not parents' names on it. However, we can also get a certificate from the local authority to show that she's been living with her current parents and has been since childhood.

Anyone know anything about this situation and what should I do?

I'm just waiting for my NOA2 right now, but I'm worrying that it's going to mess the whole process up when it comes down to the interview or later steps...

Any help or recommendation is much appreciated! Thanks!

i think it's ok for the USCIS step.

on the GUZ IV side, though - they probably will want a bit more - however - i suggest a letter of attestation that expounds on the exact situation that you've described, submitted in with the DS-230 on interview day, should be perfect.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Darnell, Thank You.

Yes, the guangzhou part is what we're worrying about. Since the birth cert don't have her parents' names on it, she suppose to get an adoption certificate according to the letters from guangzhou that some people posted. However, her parents already have their own biological kids before 'adopting' her, so they can't get an adoption certificate due to the adoption laws in China.

She's got a certificate from local villagers' committee that certifies she was a founding and been living with her current parents since childhood and they've supported all of her cost of study and living.

I just hope that's enough and works ... sigh...
