Just got off the phone with NVC, just got my MNL case #!!, called yesterday and was told that my file had arrived, but wasn't inputted yet. Hope our file makes it to the embassy soon. But we still have to wait for April's Japanese police clearance (maybe another 1 1/2 months?) and NBI clearance to arrive.

Guess we can start planning for the medical and interview now? Would you wait for the Japanese clearance first? or should we schedule the interview, hoping the clearance arrives in time? What would happen if we didn't get it on time? Can we still do the interview, and submit the clearnace when it does arrive?

I wouldn't schedule the interview until you had all your "ducks in a row" so to say. The best impression that you can make is that you are ready to do this and you are fully committed when you go for interview. Don't second guess what will happen or not happen. Be prepared with all the documents that are required and then go in with confidence. You can do this! Schedule the interview when you have all the required documents. You have waited this long, have a little more patience and you will not fall behind.

Good Luck and God's speed

Did the Japanese embassy give you an estimate of 1.5 months or is that just a PFA number? If you have an idea from the Japanese embassy then I would look at scheduling the interview for a couple weeks after that... a fudge factor, just in case. IF you need more time you can re-schedule without issue (2 times).

And yes you can do the interview without the police certificate then deliver the police certificate to USEM when it arrives, just show them the documents you got from the Japanese embassy. Which may work out OK for getting done as quick as possible.

All the best ~

The Japanese Embassy said 1 to 2 months, NBI said 1 month for them. And I really haven't waited that long, NOA1 was 1 May, I requested an expedite for military reasons on 13 Jun, NOA2 was approved on 14 Jun, and just called today to get my MNL case number today from NVC. I'm trying to get April here as soon as reasonable to hopefully get acclimated and adjusted to life here in Hawaii before I have to leave for a few months. I'd really like to get her AP completed so that she might be able to go home to family while I"m gone, at least for part of the time.

Latest update... April paid the visa fee yesterday, so today went online to schedule her interview. Took a few tries, first couple of times, couldn't even get to the webpage. Next couple of times, after entering all of her information I kept getting a error message that said the receipt number was not valid. Tried to get in touch with April to double check that she sent me the correct number and/or paid the wrong amount. Finally tried around 2pm Manila time, and it worked!! I wanted Friday Aug 23, but it looks like they don't do interviews on Fridays, so scheduled for Monday at 7:30am on 26 Aug!!

Scheduled so late since we're still waiting for her Japanese police clearance. I can only stay for a few days since I'm almost out of vacation time, and still want to accompany her back to Hawaii. Also want to take a few days to show her how to get around before I have to go back to work, so she won't be stuck at home alone.

Yeah, i waited 6 hrs, but the call center agent told me I had to wait for embassy letter/instructions before setting up an appt. I slept on it and decided to book online......so many open dates (is that just for K-1?). Email confirmation appt. already received and forwarded to my fiancee to bring to medical & interview.
