I am the OP

My Fiancee returned today to the CFO with her parents ID and photocopies of the ID (front and back) and also she brought a lot of confidence as she got approved at the embassy yesterday! And they gave her the certificate!!!! Looks like I was panicking for no reason, they did interview her again but she was strong and brave and it paid off. I think attitude is important at the CFO maybe some will give their opinions on this but I think you need to be confident and don't let them rattle you. If they see weakness they going to get you. I might be wrong about this so please leave your opinions to help others and correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for listening to my rant in the OP and try to understand I was angry when I wrote it but for future reference their is other ways out of the country other than a flight from Manila and Cebu. Lot of boats and airplanes for hire in PH but glad we were able to do things the correct way.

Thanks again for your encouragement.

Congrats!

I think you are right, when doing the interview at CFO be confident and self assured, "the jackals always go after the weakest in the herd"

And of course have the required documents & information handy. CFO used that "other documents" like a double edges sword at times.

the cfo, we must remember is actually a requirement by the us rather than the philippines.

I accidentally skipped my cfo seminar [coincidentally, an old lady did too, lol]. the immigration officer in the airport told me that if the entry officers in the us did not see that stamp, they will scold the philippines.

No, the CFO is required by Philippine law, not US law. Any Filipino exiting the country as an emigrant regardless of their destination country must attend the CFO seminar.

USCIS doesn't give a rat butt about a CFO sticker, they never even looked for it when my wife passed POE, they looked for the visa and I-94 that was it. CFO is strictly Philippines

But what I find interesting is you were allowed to leave through NAIA without the CFO sticker. How did you pull that off?

Things never change. Even in 2011 CFO was a nightmare!

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

I have a question, that I cannot seem to find the answer to...so I'll ask here.

This is in regards to what is stated on their website:

http://www.cfo.gov.ph/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1348:fiancee-spouses-and-other-partners-of-foreign-nationals&catid=140

Among the requirements for attendance to the Guidance and Counseling Program, there is a fee of 400 php.

Then it has a separate section listing the requirements for Registration (to be completed after obtaining the visa and going back for the sticker). Among these requirements there is a "registration fee".

What is the amount of this registration fee?

I think that would be the receipt of the 400 counseling fee :) bring it along with the requirements for the sticker :)

Okay, thanks. I also noticed on that link that they want a "duly completed emigrant form". Was wondering what this is, as I thought that was to be filled out when attending the CFO for the counseling session.

And, speaking of which, for the day of attending the counseling session, which my fiance will do in two weeks, I notice on that link that one of the requirements is a "duly completed Guidance and Counseling Form". I cannot seem to find that anywhere.

Perhaps Hank or Robb/Ann can clear some of this confusion up for me, as well as confirm the registration fee upon returning for your sticker..
