OK gang. As some fo you might know, our case is cursed. Everything has been difficult (other than my prettier half's interview in Saigon, which was a breeze).

Anyway, problem #1. We received seperate Biometrics appointments for my wife. One for the I485 on Dec 9 and one for the I765 on December 15. Why, we have no idea. But both are in Charlotte, NC, which is a six hour drive from here. Both are on days I work. It is a new job. From here until X-Mas I can only take one day off. Period. No exceptions. Otherwise I can get fired.

I called 800-375-5283 and spoke to two different people and both basically said tough luck, just take both appointment letters to the first interview and ask the person to do both Biometrics. That person may or may not agree and can say no if he/she wants. How wonderful.

Is this person correct? I work for an airline right now and can fly to Charlotte for free, which is the only way we can really get there, so taking just one day off for that is OK. Should I reschedule the second appointment, asking for a Wednesday appointment, which is my day off, and hope for the best?

Advice?

Problem 2: When we had to file the AOS paperwork I had just moved to NC, as had my wife's co-sponsor. None of us were working at the time, which does not look good. Well, we are both working now and want to update the case on that, but have been told we cannot and that our case may be denied as a result. #######?!?! I spoke to two different people on this and both said the same thing. They stated that we need to hope we receive a request for more evidence on the working situation, otherwise our case looks poor.

I'm really disgusted with our government and how they do things. This entire process has been so stressful that my health has badly deteriorated. I've lost weight. My ulcer is back. It's terrible. My wife and I have seriously begun to think about leaving the USA and moving to Saigon, where my wife can make good money (by their standards, of course) due to her good education. But I want her to have that greencard.

What can be done about this second problem?

Go to the first appointment, they will do all biometrics necessary at that day!

I had a letter for EAD bios only, but they did everything right away. Bring both letters, they will stamp them (bios taken, identity verified is on mine). Anyway, bring also the NOAs, everything and explain it to the lady at the front desk, they are very helpful!

Good luck!

Edit: Try to get an Infopass asap to talk about the affidavit issue, I had three appointments in the Charlotte office, always very helpful, the officers are so nice. :) But careful, the biometrics building and the Infopass building are different buildings (e.i. take a taxi!).

I don't know how to provide information about Question #2, but I'm wondering why, if you HAD to go to two biometrics appointments, she couldn't go by herself? While it would be REALLY nice if you go with her, I'd think she could take a bus, or fly maybe with your company? Welcome to America!

Carla, she could fly be herself, but then what? She cannot drive, so she would have to find her way their somehow. It's not fair for her to have to go alone. That's a last resort.

I'm glad to hear it should not be a problem getting both biometrics done the same day. That is a great relief.

Anna, sorry but what do you mean by infopass? I'm lost. :)

Matt, Infopass is way of getting an appointment with USCIS. You get an Infopass appointment by logging onto USCIS.gov and following the links.

You don't need an Infopass appointment right now. Worry with your I-864's later if you get RFE'd about them or produce new ones at the interview.

Matt_Stevens,

Problem 2, as you describe it, is that you shouldn't be listening to the people who told you what you've been told. You will have ample opportunity to update your financial information.

My job? Well, I am still writing, but no money will come in until next year, so I really needed the PT work (not to mention what I needed for the AOS for my wife). Anyway, I am working for US Airways and it's fun. I get free flying, which is the huge bonus. Pay is ####### though. :)
