Does IR-5 has a priority date?

Dear All,

My mom`s case (IR-5) was completed at NVC on May, 30th, but so far no any update about interview date (Guangzhou, China), any comments? how long will it take? any info about Guangzhou consulate in China?

Your mother doesn't need to wait for the priority date. See information below:

Immediate Relative Immigrant Visas (Unlimited): These visa types are based on a close family relationship with a United States (U.S.) citizen described as an Immediate Relative (IR). The number of immigrants in these categories is not limited each fiscal year. Immediate relative visa types include:

I am also in the processing getting my mother to US. Her case left NVC on May 29 2013 and still have no interview date yet.

My family friend also is on processed of getting his mother. Last communication was a choice of agent last year june2012.

Until now no response heard from them.

Why is that?

What should he do?

We are in the same boat. My MIL case completed email from NVC on June 7, 2013. No interview date set yet.

The case is a GZO, it was said it should be set/scheduled in 5 days.

Is your case a GUZ or GZO?

Guangzhou scheduling is lagged at NVC for the moment.

I've talked and talked and talked with the supervisors there, this last week - they don't know anything for why and keep suggesting that the interview scheduling is going to occur the 2nd week of July.

I guess we will need to talk to NVC instead.

i suggest you email GUZ IV at their email form - remind them that scheduling is lagged at NVC because they (GUZ IV) not release any slots to NVC, and ask WHEN they will release appointment slots to NVC.

Purty please? try one or five times? this 'slotting' process is driving me (and 11 others, plus you fellas) absolutely nuts.

Will do but they do advise not to email them again before their response.

BTW, by looking at your timeline, you do receive the P3 package. Why? If it is still in NVC.

p3 is 'generic' for my visa type and always means the DS-230/IV set. There is NO PLACE on the timeline that states that, so I use the P3 at the consulate for the timetick. IMO, the timeline data points need to be refactored, almost 4 years now.

also - 'sent' is date that I sent it off.

I emailed US Consulate Guangzhou. It took them about 3 days to respond back to me.

Thank you for your inquiry.

We have received notice that the NVC is sending the case file to the Consulate. We have not yet received the case file. Shipments of case files from the NVC can take four months or longer to arrive in China and clear Chinese customs. We have no control over how quickly case files are cleared by Chinese customs, and long delays are possible.

We will contact you by email regarding interview schedule for subject case after we have received the case file from the NVC. Your patience is appreciated.
