So the day is almost near... and I was just about to purchase our tickets on Orbitz (roundtrip for me cos im going to manila to pick her up) when I read somewhere that my finacee's ticket has to be purchased in the Philippines?? Is this true? A one way ticket from MNL to SFO via Philippine Airlines is purchasable on Orbitz but now I'm worried that something will go wrong at NAIA if that silly rule is indeed true. :( Has anyone ever had any issues/experience with this? I literally already have my credit card out and orbitz.com open... hope to hear from someone quick! Thank!

It seems like it depends on the airline you choose and how strict they are at following Philippine law. It looks like others have been able to successfully purchase a ticket from the states using things like Orbitz. I couldn't do it directly with Korean Air, but I just used a online travel agent based in the Philippines. I don't know for sure, but Orbitz and some of the other online booking agencies here may have a presence in the Philippines in some form and they are able to complete the booking.

Hope this helps a little :)

If going by Philippine Airlines, buy it off their website. Is the price higher? After all you are buying a ticket from a Philippine company so of course they will comply with the laws.

I have read that folks have bought them online. I think to get the immigrant discount on a one way, you must purchase there at a travel agancy.

Finished!

We flew Hawaiian, I bought the tickets over the phone with Hawaiian airlines as that was the only way I could get the return flights to match. Couldn't do it on their website.

Thanks all! I finally just called Philippine Airlines' ticketing office.. they said that I can indeed buy online and the only requirement is that I give my fiancee a copy of the credit card that I used for purchase, but since I am going to be flying with her anyway, this shouldn't be an issue. I also found that the ticket prices at the PAL website is actually cheaper than on Orbitz (which usually isn't the case). So i'm booking our flights later, I forgot to get my fiancee's passport info so I have to wait for our talk time. Thanks again! :)
