Hi there,

I'm new to this website and I am really hoping someone can help me here!

I've arrived in America last year, on a tourist visa. I met my boyfriend, we fell in love, once my 6 months were about to expire I left the country and re-entered again a few weeks later. We've been together for a while and we knew it is the real thing, so he proposed, I said yes and we got married a few days ago.

So far, everything is good. But now I am looking at all the AOS procedures, the forms and all and I have some questions I couldn't find anywhere.

1. Ten years ago I was an au pair on a J1 visa and was granted a SSN. Should I change my name on that social before AOS application?

2. My husband is an American citizen, and he was married twice before, once to another American citizen and his second wife was a foreigner. Which means he went through this before. I guess I am just scared that because he went through it before without any problems, maybe now that I am the third wife and the second foreigner, maybe immigration might give me a hard time. Has anyone here been through this part???

I sincerely appreciate any help!

Thanks!

Julie

**** Moving from Off Topic to AOS from Tourist Visa forum ***

1. Are you going to change your name on other documents? It is not a requirement, if that is what you are asking.

2. It could be a red flag, but depends on the circumstances, such as how long ago he was divorced, how long the other marriage to a foreigner lasted, whether she did the same thing (enter on a tourist visa, then adjust status) of they went toe more traditional route of a fiance./ spousal visa;

@Penguin_ie

Thanks for your the answer!

I want to add his last name to mine... I'm a little traditional on that sense. And now we are planning our wedding ceremony.

About his previous marriage, I guess she was on a working visa, they were married in 08 and the divorce was finalized earlier this year.

Hopefully it won't be an issue.

Have you heard of any other case like mine?

Thanks again!

5 year marriage is good, it doesn't make it look like a "for greencard" marriage. I doubt you will have any major issues.
