Hi VJ family! :) So my fiance, Bert, will be flying to Manila today for his medical, interview, & CFO seminar. Just asking for a prayer for him to have a smooth and successful rest of this process because he already encountered a problem, and he hasn't even arrived in Manila yet.

When we were looking for a flight for him, I found the best price online, but for some reason, I could not buy it with my credit card on the PAL website. They did have an option to reserve the price and pay for it at a PAL ticketing office within one day. So that's what we did. After he paid, he asked what he needed to show when he got to the airport. They said all he needed was the itinerary with the receipt that was stamped on the back of it and his ID. Well....when he got to the airport in CDO, they would not let him in because they wanted a copy of the credit card that was used. After explaining to them over and over that it was not purchased online, just reserved, and that he paid cash at an actual ticketing office, they still wanted to verify it somehow. Not sure if they called the ticketing office or what, but thank goodness they finally decided to let Bert through.

So my advice to people getting their tickets is to insist on getting an actual separate receipt for your payment, instead of just having the receipt stamped on the back of the itinerary. Maybe that way they might not question if you really paid for the ticket or not. If they'll actually give you a ticket of some sort, even better. For those who buy a ticket for your fiance with your credit card, email a copy of your driver's license/ID and credit card, even if someone from the airlines or the ticketing office tells you it's not needed. I had actually call PAL or Cebu Pacific (I forgot which one) before reserving a ticket and asked specifically if I needed to send him a copy of my ID and credit card and they told me no...just the itinerary and his photo ID would be enough....bad advise from them.

Also, I would advise you to get to the airport early just in case you run into any problems like Bert did. He had to take a bus from Iligan City to the CDO airport. His flight is not until 5pm, but he left Iligan at about 9-9:30 in the morning. He said he wanted to leave early just in case the road was bad, and it would take longer than the 2.5-3 hours to get there. Little did we know it wouldn't be the trip there that would give us problems.

Well, sorry this post is so long, and I'm sure most of you already know to send a copy of your cc to your fiance and to get to the airport early, but just wanted to post so maybe any newbies will be aware of this. Btw, anyone doing their medical this Mon. & Tues., June 2 & 3?...well, my prayers for us all that everything goes smoothly in all of our visa journeys! God bless! :)

This is good advice. I left a credit card with my fiancée at the time on one of my trips over so there would be no hassles with the tickets.

Best of luck!

Best of luck and prayers for you and your fiance, trupnay5! biggrin.png

Thank you, Erika! Even though he didn't get to SLEC until 5am, he actually finished pretty early..around 9:35am. I was surprised since he was #70 in the "online" line or whatever it is...lol...I suggested he try to do the CFO seminar in the afternoon, and he has successfully finished the seminar! :) Now praying for the results to all be ok tomorrow! Thanks for your help! :)
