Obtain Income Tax Document

I'm about to apply for Removing Condition (I-751) and I'm gathering support documents. I have a question and I hope someone will have an answer.

I have been filling my income tax electronically for the last several years, Turbo Tax sent electronically to IRS. How do I obtain copies of my Federal Income Tax for the last two years? Thank you.

They should have sent you some kind of receipt. My husband has filled with Turbo Tax as well for the past three years. He had saved the receipts/verifications from each filling on his computer which is what we used for the sponsorship paperwork. If you don't have these, I'm pretty sure you can contact the IRS and ask for some sort of copy? Turbo Tax probably keeps records of your filings as well. Check on their website or call them.

We also file electronically but send USCIS IRS transcripts. From what I understand this is better since you could conceveibly fill out income tax as a couple but actually send IRS something else - but transcript shows what IRS has on their records regarding your income tax. does that make sense?

The transcripts are available a few weeks after you file. You can call or submit a request to have them mailed to you - check the IRS website. What we do, since we live close to an IRS office, is to go in person. They give them to you right away at no charge - of course it can be a 15 mins. or an hour wait depending on how busy they are.
