hi VJ friends i just wanna know if u guys have any idea how long does it takes for the minor kids petition by step dad?

I agree with the previous responses. Many variables are in play.

Many cases are approved within a year, but some within 8 months.

Hope this helps some. good.gif

Definitely hard to say! Our case would have been 5.5 to 6.5 months (depending on the date of our interview) if we didn't drag our feet for a month at NVC to slow down the process a little. We wanted a June interview.

Much of the wait depends on how long it takes to approve the I-130 (ours was a little over 2 months).

After that, figure 4 weeks average for the file to arrive at the National Visa Center and for them to generate the Case Number and Invoice Identification Numbers, which you need to start your end of the process. Once those are generated, I have seen as fast as 19 days to get through NVC. Ours took around 1 month. If you have everything ready to go, the timing just depends on how fast NVC invoices you and accepts your AOS and IV forms & documents ("packages").

Our case went like this:

9 weeks for I-130 to be approved.

---

2 weeks after I-130 approval (NOA-2) to arrive at NVC

2 weeks after arrival at NVC to get ID numbers

---

2 weeks for them to accept the Choice of Agent and Address

~2 days to invoice for IV bill

2 weeks after they received the AOS and IV packages for Case Complete

1 week and counting after Case Complete for scheduling of the interview date

---

~4-8 weeks? until interview

Then it depends on your embassy how soon the interview will be. Some people are scheduled for slightly less than a month later, but the average is about 2 months after Case Complete at NVC. Check out this thread for an idea.

Of course there can be insane delays at ANY STEP, in particular the case arriving at NVC and scheduling the interview.

Good luck!
