What's the purpose of tracking when your packet is sent to the consulate?

Anyone have an answer to my dumb question? I'm doing CR1, and my case is currently completed. The NVC tells me the process is, after your case is marked completed, the NVC will schedule your interview appointment first. Then send your paperwork to the embassy. Is this the correct order of events?

If this is correct, I'm not sure what the purpose of tracking when the NVC has shipped their packet to the consulate is. Are some people finding they have a scheduled appt, and the paperwork didn't arrive at the consulate yet? Or are people getting their interview date AFTER they somehow find out their paperwork was mailed?

If the NVC is blowing smoke up my butt, and correct sequence is mail first, then interview date, how can I get them to tell me when the package is sent to the consulate?

This is in reference to threads like this one --> http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/417100-april-2013-interviews/

The operator was correct. After a case complete, the case is put into queue for an interview date to be scheduled. Typically the day after an interview date is assigned, the case is then shipped to the embassy/consulate.

The purpose of tracking your case is to make sure it arrives at the embassy/consulate safely and on time.

Like Tygrys said, please don't hijack other people's threads, especially when your question has absolutely nothing to do with the topic.

After an approved I-130 is sent to NVC, there's an entire fee collection and document intake. I highly suggest you click on the last 2 links in my signature and do some major reading.

Remember, NVC does not approve your visa. The visa is only approved (or denied) at the embassy, which is still a few months out for you.
