I called and was advised that my file is under administration processing

There could be a reason behind it, or it could be random. We really have no way of knowing their reasons.

I have heard of people in administrative processing for various lengths of time at the NVC, but it will eventually end, and you will eventually get to the next step. Perhaps asking your congressman to inquire would be a good idea if it ends up taking too long.

Best of luck.

What would Xenu do?

I phoned NVC yesterday and was given my case number (NOA2 date of 18 April) and was also told that my file was undergoing 'administrative processing'. I had asked when it was likely that it would be forwarded to the UK, which was when she told me it was undergoing AP.

I'm hoping that our file is just part of the random check rather than additional, time delaying background checks. It's just over 9 months since we got our NOA1.

This is very stressful & they all got different answers

I think I'm going to inquire Abt it with my senator

Your thread is worrying me now. I am from France as well and had my NOA2 a week ago and i was thinking of calling NVC this week.

I had never heard of possible AP at the nvc stage but only at the consulate if you have huge red flags. Is there anything you can think of that could be suspicious to them? Maybe it is just random and i don't think it will take very long.

What phone number can i call NVC at? How do i get my receipt number? Do i give them my USCIS receipt number in order to do so?

Ok all I know is that there's a huge amount of papers due to CSC delays...; For the NVC it's supposed to take 2-4 weeks... I told you Lolla.... it's gonna take time....

NOA1 August 6 2012
NOA2 April 16 2013

NVC April 22 2013

Packet 3 received May 25th 2013

Interview July 11th 2013

I'm not a reference between packet 3 and 4. Some papers were missing so things were delayed.

Call 1-603-334-0700 and follow the menu.

You will need your USCIS receipt number

Both petitioner's and beneficiary's full names

Both petitioner's and beneficiary's dates of births

Ask them if your case has been allocated an case number and when it is likely to be forwarded to your embassy.

AP does happen at NVC stage as well as at the consulate stage but it can be just that it's undergoing a random check.

Thank you very much. I ll do that tomorrow or on friday since I had my NOA2 only a week ago it might be too early right now.

Well if AP happens at this stage this is complete BS, as if we didn't wait long enough already. I understand that it could be random but with my luck it might happen to me and i am stressing out now. AP can last for months this is not fair. I am praying that it goes well.

Please don't worry too much. AP at the NVC stage does not generally last very long - it is AP at the consulate stage which can last for months.

You don't even know that you're in AP yet! I do know I'm in AP at NVC at the moment but I'm hopeful (we have a provisional date of 12 July for our wedding!).

Yeah i am probably not in AP (or i would say maybe not) but still this stressful to know that we can be further delayed, once oyu have waited almost 8 months for a NOA2, it is not acceptable to be delayed some more.

What do you mean by not very long ? Like 2,3, 4 weeks? Still too much for me. I am afraid of calling now.

I totally understand what you mean. We waited almost 9 months for our NOA2 and to be placed in AP after all that wait is quite unacceptable. However, we have no other option but to accept it. Yes, I am very stressed at the moment - our lawyer keeps trying to calm me down by saying 'please calm down'!

I have seen posts where someone has been placed into AP and then called back the next day and been told that their case has been sent that day to the embassy. I have seen others where people have been in AP for a couple of weeks.

Why not phone them? It will put you mind at rest either way. Our NOA2 date was Thu 18 April and NVC received our file on Tue 23 April, so you could still phone even though it's only a week for you.

BTW - I saw the post earlier from someone whose fiance (the petitioner) has died suddenly and now she's trying to see if she can get a visitor's visa to the US for the funeral and get the support of his family. That really put everything into perspective for me.

Hi. I've just spoken to NVC (after about 25 minutes on hold - thank goodness I'm currently in the US) and our file is no longer in AP! She said it should be leaving NVC time now. I will probably phone NVC on Monday to see if it's actually left.
