Hi all! I have noticed on the timelines that those in Canada have their interviews months and months away. Any one who has it scheduled, can you comment on here if it's because that is the earliest available OR is it because you need time to pack up and get your affairs ready to move? Some have them scheduled 4-5 months away...seems a bit lengthy. Please let me know for those who've done it in the last 6 months or so (or less). I'm trying to figure out how long this is going to take.

Depends on which Consulate you are going through. Vancouver isn’t as busy so it’s easier for K-1s to make appointments. Montréal can go either way.

I’ve seen many threads where K-1 applicants were waiting for quite a while for appointment timings to open up with Montréal and they were snatched up right away and other times where it seemed easy for people. It all depends on how busy it is when it’s your turn.

The title says Montreal so I would like only those stats. I'm hoping to hear some good news :)

As this is a direct topic about interviews and times in Canada I have moved this post to the Canada forums for Canada specific topics/questions.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

I would also like to hear how smoothly things seem to be going. Just got our NOA2 (in the huge rush of CSC approvals) and am concerned about having another lengthy wait, this time until the interview.

Haribo, you are exactly who I would like to hear from and those in the last while. Can't wait to find out when your interview is. Hopefully soon!

Hi Hannah! I joined VJ last month and wondered the exact same thing. I was very anxious about the whole process and needed to know dates and timelines for everything lol. My file is currently with NVC (just paid AOS bill). I looked at about 10 people's timelines who had their interview booked recently and this is what I found:

From when your file reaches NVC to when it leaves, it's taking about 5-6 wks; however, this is assuming you pay the bills right away and that you send all documents requested right away. If anything missing, it can easily add 1-2 wks of processing time for NVC.

Once your file is completed at NVC, they seem to be booking interviews about 4-6 wks later.

Again, these are all based on about 10 people's timelines. Good luck!

The difference is that IR-1/CR-1s get our interviews booked for us by NVC and the K-1s book themselves appointments on-line.

The spots are on a first come, first serve basis so if Hannah and Haribo check the booking site frequently they will hopefully get a spot right away.

I haven’t heard of a lot of people wanting spots on VJ recently so perhaps not a lot of competition for spots right now, but in the past K-1 applicants have texted each other when spots open up and post on here so others know.

Good luck!

None of this is valid for K-1 which the OP is discussing.

There were quite a few of us K1's last year waiting to book at Montreal in April. We probably waited about 3 weeks for those appointment slots to open up. We started a thread about this and kept each other in the loop via the thread plus exchanged email addresses and phone numbers so that if some appointments opened up then we could all notify each other immediately.
