HOW LONG DOES IT TAKES TO GET YOU NOA2

Do you know where your case is currently? NBC or Local office?

It all depends where your case is going to be processed. If you get transferred to Newark then its a long wait.

It depends on many things but generally it takes 3 to 6 months.

Yours seems to be DCF, it will be approved much faster.

k thank you

if it will stay there then you probably get your NOA2 soon, but if it gets transferred to Newark which is the current trend right now, then it may take little longer. How do you know it is at NBC?

If it was DCF, they wouldn't have filed via lockbox, and the petition wouldn't currently be at NBC. DCF is where the entire process happens at the embassy - the IV unit process the I-130, all NVC docs are presented there, etc. Filing from abroad is NOT the same thing as DCF. I don't know what you read that would lead you to believe the OP is even abroad, much less filing DCF.

OP, it varies a lot, but like Robinhood said it really depends on what your local office is. Unless the USC is abroad with the beneficiary, it could take anywhere from 6 - 8 months to get approved (unless you get lucky with a field office that's not so business, like Pittsburgh). Be pleasantly surprised at any update you get before the 5 month mark. You JUST filed three weeks ago, so you still have quite a long wait ahead of you. While you wait, you can look into the documents needed for the NVC steps so you can be proactive about sending those in when it's time.

Just to let you know that you can't trust what they tell you over the phone. It happened to me and to many here on VJ. You need to call USCIS, talk to Tier 2 officer and ask specifically if your case is transferred to Local office or not. You may wanna call few times to get right answer. I called in march and they told me it is still at NBC, but after a week or so called again, and it was surprising to know that my case was transferred to Newark on Jan 9. I was very confused whom to trust, so went to Newark and they confirmed that they are processing my case.

So, I suggest you call couple of times and talk to Tier2. if your case is at Local office then you should visit and try to find out whats going on. By going to Local office, I avoided getting an RFE. There are many people here got approved after visiting local office.
