If you're in F3 and PD is 12/15/1997 then your PD has been current a long time ago. How come you only got approval from USCIS this April 2013 ?

yes we applied with ds 230 only recently . PD has been current for some quite some years probably , did not apply earlier .

You're lucky that the petition has not been cancelled. Normally they give only 1 year for you to submit docs from notification date. You should call the embassy to inquire about your interview date. Update us what happened.

no it does not get cancelled . you need to call them once a year preferably before the 1 year time expiry and it gets renewed from then for another one year. i think you do not need to pay again for another year of renewal .

Hi Mellow & Manud !

Would like to know maximum delay period , if somone wants to delay the process for family reasons , without losing the opportunity -

- between I-130 approval and replying (DS-230) to NVC ,

- between NVC approval with visa no. and applying to Local consulate in one's own country

- between US visa stamping in the passport and arrival in USA port of entry

This information may be useful to many in proper planning , with out losing the opportunity ( immigrant US visa ) . Other experts may also contribute their views .

Thanks in advance .
