Hey guys,

So I AOS thanks to my wife who is a USC, I also had a joint sponsor. I was granted a permanent conditional gc.

My wife's contract is up in May, and we are moving after that so for about 3 to 4 months she'll be unemployed. We are thinking of applying for unemployment so we have some sort of income. Will this be detrimental to my status since she is my sponsor? Or a roadblock when I attempt to remove the conditions in a couple of years?

maybe some other vj'r can chime in on this but as i understand it, unemployment comes from an insurance account that the employee pays into, so that is not considered the type of federal aid that reimbursment will be sought

It shouldn't cause you any problems, and your wife won't have to prove income at the Removal of Conditions, so the period of unemployment shouldn't even come up.
