Thank you for starting this. After 8 months of waiting I've received NOA2 after petitioning for my mother. The case was approved on March 20. Nothing from NVC as of today. I've noticed that your mother got her NVC number very quickly after NOA2. Is it possible to get it through e-mail or by calling NVC?

I believe it does take like a week for the NVC to receive the approved file. What you can do is to call the NVC to find out if your case has arrived. If so, ask for the case number and Invoice Identification Number.

Latest updates... My mom (65 yrs old) went to her immigrant visa interview today and was given 221(g) for missing the following documents:

*Petitioner birth certificate (This was submited to the NVC and the interview letter confirmed the receipt. Someone lost it somewhere. It's ok my parents are getting a duplicata from the civil authority).

*Police certificate (the police certificate clearance does have 3-months duration and the expiration date was today 4/10/13).

Here is the interview report from my mother:

Pre-interview:

My mom handed her passport along with missing Marriage Certificate (Original) and extra photographs to the window 1. A lady who took the items told her that they are missing petitioner birth certificate and her police certificate just expired today. Then, she said to my mom to wait and she will be called to see the CO. My young sister was with my mom inside all this time.

Interview:

"The CO looked at my mom & smiled. Mom said..he was nice." My mom does have a bad experience when she was denied a Visitor Visa 3 yrs ago.

CO: What is your name?

Mom: Responded.

CO: Can you sign well?

Mom: Yes, I can sign my full name.

CO: Sign here.

Mom: Ok

The CO called my sister and told her (for my mom) to bring the above missing documents either tomorrow Thursday @ 1pm or next week Thursday 1pm. They gave her 221(g) requesting the two (2) missing documents. I hope it would not take longer since the birth certificate was already submitted to the NVC. However, the CO kept the passport. Is it a good sign when the passport is kept afte the interview?

My I-130 petition (father) was approved on April 3rd and the NVC confirmed yesterday that they just received the file today (April 12). Hope yours is already there as well.

Yes, I called and they said that the NVC number was just assigned on April 8th. My mom emailed them her choice of agent (as per DS 3032) and they emailed me AOS bill the next day.

Now waiting for the payment to go through and will send AOS.

Do they email IV bill after AOS fee has been payed or after they receive I-864?

That's good! The IV Bill email will be sent after the DS-3032 (Choice of Agent) has been accepted by the NVC.

I finally got through all bills (PAID) and sent AOS last week. Now it's time for DS-230. Do I, as a petitioner, need to send also a long version of birth certificate or the short one (as I have sent with I-130) will suffice?

You should send the original from a copy that was filed with the I-130. The birth certificate should include your birth info and your parent's names.

Btw, I hope everything is going well with your parents' visas. From what I've read on the forum it is a good sign if they keep applicant's passport while waiting for missing documents. I wish you all the best - I am trying to bring my mom who is much older than yours... Hope she will be able to come.

No problem Anibar. We are here to help each others. This site has been very helpful to all over us.

As for my mom, I think she will be able to have her visa very soon. The US Embassy emailed me yesterday to inform me that they have not yet received the medical report from the hospital. It can take up 4 weeks for the medical report to be done and submitted to the embassy. My mom did her medical a week before the interview and she should have done it 30 days before the interview. The missing birth certificate was reissued and resubmitted to the Embassy. So now, they are only waiting for the medical report to arrive.

Good news.... My mother's VISA was finally issued yesterday (05/09) after receiving the 221g blue slip and being under the AP (Administrative Processing) for missing documents (NVC lost my original birth certs). I am glad the waiting is OVER and now I am booking her ticket to arrive here in 3 weeks.
