I-130 - Marriage Certificate - Translation?

Hello,

We got married in France a month ago and got a French marriage certificate.

As my husband doesn't speak French, I am about to translate it and make it certified by a professional translator.

We also have a multilingual extract of the marriage certificate, that we are planning to join to the I-130 petition (the only difference is that our parents names are not specified).

Is this the right procedure? Or should we only send one of these?

He is a US citizen, lived in the UK, now moved back to the US. I am French, we met in 2010 in the UK and got married in March 2013 in France.

If you're going to get a translation of the original certificate, I wouldn't bother sending the multilingual extract. A photocopy of the original along with an English translation is enough.

USC who lived in Manabí, Ecuador with hubby from 2009 - 2013. Hubby became a naturalized American citizen in August 2016. Currently living together in northern Virginia.

Did you ask a professional to sign the certification? We were wondering if we could ask an English professor at university to just sign and certify it, as I will translate it myself.

On the USCIS website I read "Please submit certified translations for all foreign language documents. The translator must certify that s/he is competent to translate and that the translation is accurate."

Did I understand it right? No sworn translator needed here?

As long as you have some kind of certification proving that the translator is competent, you should be fine.
