Police Report Question

Hello,

We are in the process of obtaining the police report for my husband through the Australian Federal Police. On the application form for the AFP, it states that fingerprint checks are very rarely required, and to make sure that you really need a fingerprint check. Can someone tell me if this is necessary? Also, if it is necessary, where can we go to get fingerprints done? My husband is in the US right now (legally on a visitor visa) so we will need to do fingerprints here and send them to the AFP.

Yes absolutely it is essential to get the fingerprint check.

I am not sure about how to go about getting the fingerprints done, as most Australians are in Australia when they get their police check done and they get it through their state police department, which takes the fingerprints.

Excuse the ignorance, but is that just for Australia? I havent heard anything of the nature here in Brazil...

That's for Australia. Each country's consulate requirements are different.

I think the AFP will have certain requirements and may be able to tell you how to get them done overseas. Also if you post in the Australia/NZ forum you may find others who got theirs done overseas through the AFP.
