Hi everyone,

I received my biometrics appointment letter this past Saturday July 27th with a date scheduled for August 16th. I didn't want to wait that long and decided to take my chances on an early walk-in. I was very nervous since early walk-ins are at the complete discretion of each USCIS center and some centers allow it and some don't. So on Monday July 29th (18 days before my appointment date) I picked up my letter and my passport and drove to the USCIS center in Alexandria VA. I really didn't want to get in the building because I was afraid that walking in early was going to piss them off and somehow jeopardize my application.

I walked in anyways and tried to look confident. At the security check station this lady asked for my appointment letter and my ID and gave me a form and a clipboard with a pen to fill it up. I filled the form out and gave it to the receptionist who in return gave me a number to wait in line. There were literaly 9 people waiting to take their biometrics. After 5 minutes or so this lady (Hispanic) came to help me and we spoke Spanish till the end of the procedure. The biometrics it self took about 10 minutes since our machine didn't seem to be working properly but at the end everything was fine.

I'm not encouraging everybody to run to the USCIS office and do the early walk-in, I'm just telling you my own experience with the local center in Alexandria VA. They were very nice and very efficient with me.

I've read on places over the internet that doing your biometrics early has sped up the process of obtaining the Employment Authorization card.

Question:

  1. Has anyone taken early biometrics and gotten their EAD card earlier?
  2. Will my early walk-in biometrics help get the process of AOS going ? Or do you think they will only start looking at my process after my original biometrics date (August 16, 2013).

Thanks for any answers
