Hiya,

We're a couple of English teachers, a Canadian and American.

We've been bounding around Asia for the past 4 years, and feel it is finally time for us to be wed.

Our plan is to be married in America,

and then travel to Mexico to teach English and file our I-130 at the consulate office after 6 months of living/working.

Does anyone have any advice regarding:

1) Our entry into America: We're coming from Japan, will have no fiancee visa, no intention of staying, and proof of flights out of America.

2) The DCF process in Mexico. What all will we need? Does anyone have experience with the Mexican offices, and what to expect?

Thank for the help, much obliged!

I'm not sure if you can file in Mexico since neither of you are a Mexican citizen

1. Along with a return ticket, it'd be a good idea to bring proof of your impending employment in Mexico (if that's where you're going after leaving the US), along with any other ties you may have.

2. You'll both need to be considered residents if you want to do DCF. How long that takes in Mexico, I'm not sure.

My husband (Mexican) and I (USC) filed DCF here in Mexico and the process has been very fast! But, in order to file here, I had to submit evidence of my Mexican residency (my Mexican familiar/spouse visa). I don't have any idea if you can file here when neither of you are Mexican, but if you can do it, it is a quick process and I recommend it. First, the I-130 is filed at the USCIS office in the area where you live. After approval, your documents are sent to the consulate in Ciudad Juarez and they take care of the rest of the process. They first contact you with your NVC case number and instructions for the next step. However, there are issues with the mail here so we (as well as many others I've heard of) didn't actually get the letter and had to call the Applicant Service Center´s call line to get the information. Once you have your case number, you can complete the DS-260 online and make an appointment for the interview. Of course, there are the supporting documents to prepare as well! The steps are pretty clear on the Ciudad Juarez website: http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/iv_steps.html

Hope this helps!
