Hi,

I am putting together our application package for adjustment of status through marriage.

In the I-130 package, I have a certified copy of the marriage according to the instructions, as well as forms G-325A.

In the I-485 package, the instructions says to include evidence for "basis of eligibility" to adjust status, I suppose this could be a second marriage certificate (first one in I-130 package) in our case?

Is it OK to provide a photocopy of the certified copy as I only have one certified copy (filing with I-130) at this point? Or can I refer to the I-130 package for the certificate? Or am I misunderstanding the question entirely?

Likewise, the I-485 asks for biographics forms G-325A which are already in the I-130 package, should I refer to that or should I make a second G-325A form?

Lastly, just out of curiousity, what will the various passport-style photos be used for? Will either one be on the greencard? Which one?

Thanks!

Where are you seeing that? You are adjusting based on an immigrant petition, so you just need to include the petition (I am not sure whether that means you actually need to include another copy of the I-130).

From what I hear, they are not used for anything. (Go figure) I heard that they use the photo from biometrics or something for the green card.

Oh thanks, that cleared things up! Read the instructions again and it made much more sense now

If anyone can verify that I need not to include anything else in regards to my basis of eligibility than the I-130 petition, I would be most thankful.

Also, can someone let me know if I need a second certified copy (first one will be filed with I-130 package) of the marriage certificate or if a photocopy of the certified copy is good enough?

You should only enclose photocopies of any documents sent to USCIS in the first place, not original certified copies (keep those for the interview).

Your basis of eligibility for the I-485 is the supporting I-130 you are filing concurrently, and the supporting document for that (amongst other things) is a copy of your marriage certificate.
