Wow, seems like alot of us had really crappy days.

I wish I could vent but... I guess some things are better left unsaid. :)

I did manage to get a certified copy of my divorce papers.

When I called the State of California department for authorizations and apostille stuff last week, I was told the papers to certify had to be no older than 5 years old, so I had to go to the courthouse this morning get new certified copies of my divorce papers since they're 7 years old.

Wednesday morning I get to drive into San Francisco and fight commute traffic to get to the State of CA place where they'll certify that the divorce papers are legal. I would mail them in except they say it takes 2 or more weeks, and then if I'm not mistaken I need to send them off to Washington DC to get them even further certified. I swear these will be the most "certified" papers around. Anyways, it's alot of running around but I need to get them done before the trip so that there are no problems.

On another note, anyone who was divorced, did you get your divorce papers translated here in the states? When I looked on the Egyptian consulate's website for San Francisco, they said they would translate documents for $25.00 but when I called them, they said they don't do that anymore. When I called someplace to get a quote, they quoted me $500.00!!! It's only 5 pages, I really can't understand the price. So fiance has found a place in Egypt that will do it for $100.00 which is much cheaper, and he is still trying to find someplace else.

Anyways, does anyone know, does it matter if I get the translation done here or in Egypt??

Wow! 100$! That's a rip off I think! We didn't get divorce papers translated but they cost about 10$ a translation. Are you translating his papers or yours? I assume his?

It is my divorce papers that need translation. And he knows that's alot, even though it's cheaper than it would be to get it done here. He is looking around today for a better place.

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.

Melly...

You do not have to have them translated. The Egyptians don't even look at them..just the Americans at the US embassy. If they do ask for them just have your man slip them a few LE. Bribery works in Egypt. It's actually the preferred way to do business :P And a little goes a loooong way
