We're in the northern burbs, but have found a decent selection of jeans at the Rosedale Penny's. She'd still rather buy Levis though. She was really disappointed when we visited the Levis store at MOA that their sale shelves were gone last time we were there. Hope they bring it back, those 60 to 100 pairs of jeans are much nicer when they're being sold for 10 and 20 bucks.

When we were in Cebu at the mall, I pointed out the Forever 21 store and she said it was to expensive. Now it's her favorite place. It's inexpensive here and the clothes fit her. She would be in heaven if she could find a show store with her size. Shoes are her weeknes.

Purses. My wife is addicted. I was forced to intervene. Now the balikbayan boxes are half full of purses going to the Philippines. It is funny seeing pictures from her mom where she and her friends are all carrying these designer bags at some school function for my nephews or nieces.

My wife has a shoe size of 5, which is tough to find. Most stores don't carry that size. But DSW and Sketchers will both have her size. Its funny when we walk into Sketchers at MOA, they already know us when we walk in. My wife will pick out a few styles and the guy will go in back and start grabbing every size 5 in similar styles he can find  On occasion she'll pick something out, they won't have her size, but can get it from another store. So we buy them there and they ship them to our house for free.

There was one woman there that kept telling people to just go online and order it, when a size wasn't available. If I was a manager I would have fired her on the spot. When you have someone in your store who wants to buy, you don't tell them to leave and order it on your online web site. Odds are that person will go to the next door down and buy shoes there. You make the sale and get it shipped to them. I heard her say that to about 4 people while we were there one day, she was actually a manager to! Who teaches these idiots? Marketing 101, first rule, make the friggen sale! A person who has left the store is a lost sale 99% of the time. Had they wanted to shop online, they would have already been shopping from home.

Clariz is like the energizer bunny. She is always cleaning or doing something productive around the house. And yes, the dishwasher now is used as a dish drainer. We planted a vegetable garden, and she has been working it every day. We are currently looking for a used sewing machine. She hemmed her wedding dress by hand. I hope her work ethic never changes.........my first wife was allergic to work

My wife is just the cleaning type... she hates sitting still for long.... things get cleaned up every now and then... I have to be careful cause sometimes my stuff gets cleaned up too.... there are some food she does not like.... (lasagna and american spagetti, but I can easily live without those) We are working on her driving, and getting around. She loves it here...and I am extremely blessed to have her in my life.

See is happy because we have a garden she enjoys tending to. She cannot wait for the fresh vegetables. I had to put her up a clothes line. She is always trying to conserve energy. It is difficult for me to explain that leaving the ceiling fans on actually conserves more because the a/c does not run as much. I did have to teach her to use the thermostat instead of turning the a/c off. I come home from working and it was 85F inside. I don't need it too cool, but th at is not comfortable. I usually leave 78-80F.

We cannot find her deodorant brand here. She will have to find a comparable brand here I guess.

My wife's biggest issue is shoes....size 4.5 to 5. Very limited selection here in Anchorage..also they don't make breakup boots with heels.....or boots for four wheeling....it's a stylish thing I guess..

For soap and personal care, we do Amazon. Good thing there are multiple Asian markets here and one caters more forwards the Filipinos.

This is such a fun forum! I'm the Filipina beneficiary and I'm wondering how my future husband will answer these questions after I get there. I am enjoying reading all the answers from you guys!

I'm still new to Tagalog but have never heard the term 'Tampo' From what I read, I should be worried. LOL.. Please explain Tampo to me.

TAMPO is the milder version of getting mad. It is an expression of getting hurt (usually because of something you did, like, say, not praising her cooking or something like that). When your wife is "tampo" she will not but her usual self (sweet, jolly, etc.), will most likely give you the cold shoulder or just sulk in a corner. How do you make the "tampo" go away? You make LAMBING!

LAMBING is the Filipino term for wooing. You show affection, you say your sorry in the nicest way possible, make puppy dog eyes, give her a hug, whatever, just try and make her smile again. : )

Ya getting clothes to fit is the "forever" challenge here.

Shop in the kids/teenage section lol.

After two years my wife still has trouble with cooler weather and I live in So-Cal. Bought her one of those heat lamps from Costco and she loves it. One funny thing is that she still doesn't understand why sunny days can be so cold. When she sees the sun shinning she assumes it is warm.

I would say the three things that helped her the most with homesickness was a rice cooker, GMA and TFC channels, and the ability to call home whenever she wants. She loves the washer and dryer though will still do some clothes by hand. I also had to rig up a clothes line outside for her. She doesn't care for dishwasher at all.

What is GMA and TFC?
